It’s that time of year again… head over to MTV.com to vote for Paramore in Musical March Madness. Let’s see how far we can get them this year! This week, they’re up against Charli XCX.
“What a year. And it’s only March.
I’m trying to understand how it could be that 3 years have gone by since we wrote and recorded the Self-Titled album. How is it that we are near the end of our time with this album? I remember at the beginning of 2006, some of our team started to ask what we were thinking about the next album and if we’d begun writing what would later become “RIOT!”. I’ll never forget that conversation and how sad it made me. Things had only begun to heat up for us with “AWKIF” and I was feeling like it still had a ton of life in it. We were on Warped Tour that summer and when the tickets for our first headlining tour went on sale, I could feel myself becoming more and more satisfied with the life that we gave our 1st album. We gave that album what it deserved, with a pretty-much sold out tour, after it gave us what would become the foundation for our entire career.
The Hollywood Reporter recently posted about an awesome new website from the co-founders of Nylon called Popular, “a digital magazine that features editorial and video content targeted at always-connected women ages 18 to 25 that touches on fashion, music, celebrity, beauty, culture and travel.” The concept of the site is cool enough, but it’s made even better by the announcement that Hayley Williams will be hosting a video series on the site called Kiss Off! We’ll keep you updated on when that will start, but you can check out the rest of PopularTV.com right now!
Paramore have won Best Rock Song at the 57th Grammy Awards! “Ain’t It Fun” beat out songs by other great rock acts like The Black Keys and Jack White to claim the award for Best Rock Song. Paramore, we are so incredibly proud of everything you’ve accomplished thus far, especially during the Self-Titled album cycle. This is like the cherry on top of an amazing couple of years. Congratulations on a most well-deserved honor!!!
“Grammy Award winners, Paramore”… that feels really good to say.
PS – Fun fact: this win makes Hayley Williams the first female to win in the Best Rock Song category since Alanis Morissette in 1999!
Happy Birthday to the man, the myth, the legend: Mr. Jeremy Davis… he turns the big 3-0 today! Thanks for killing it on bass at every show, tons and tons of “Pressure” flips, and for just being an all-around awesome dude. Have an amazing day with your family and friends, and we’ll see you on tour soon!
Hayley was a keynote speaker yesterday at the first ever PTTOW! Music Conference at Grammy Week. She had some awesome things to say about how fans shape the band’s decisions and why “at the heart of this, we are all people. Not consumers. We are all fans.” We’re still waiting on more photos and video of her speech, but in the meantime, click here to find out more about PTTOW!
Paramore has announced a small run of shows (not a tour) to celebrate the close of the Self-Titled album cycle in the best way possible. Info is below, and we’ll see you there!
It feels right to bring the Self-Titled era to a close. We’ve had a very personal and hugely triumphant journey with this one. What wouldn’t feel right is saying goodbye to this time in the band’s career and not celebrating it with our fans in some special way. So we’ve decided to do one last little run with it. Smaller shows, beautiful theaters…and we’re not calling it a tour, by the way. Each night will be a little event, or as we said just a few seconds ago, a celebration. As we acknowledge the past few years (and more) of everything we’ve been through together, we’re also looking forward together at all there is to come.
Another way we want to celebrate our journey thus far, is to bring out a band who helped us in our most humble, playing 500 beats faster than we should, terrible hair, beginning. We might’ve never gained any traction on the road had they not allowed us on their tour almost exactly 10 years ago. So if you’re coming to one of these shows make sure to get there early for Copeland.
Lastly, thank you to anyone and everyone who made this album a milestone in Paramore’s career and in each of our lives. We started this journey 3 years ago, desperate for any sort of future at all! Now we are standing taller, more confident, knowing that we are the ones who write our own future. This means you too.
Hayley, Jeremy & Taylor
