These guys are amazing! It's Ben Moody's [from Evanesence] new band, it consists of 3 of the 4 original members of Ev. Lead singer is Carly Smithson [she was a contestant on American Idol - think it was last years season] she's got an incredible, huge voice!

Can't wait to hear the album.

to me (and you know i have to be honest) they sound a bit too much like Evanescence. Although the song is good, I'm not jumping up and down about it. Maybe their later releases will help them differentiate a bit from Ev.

Yeah they definately will. I too think the song does sound kinda similar to Ev, but like Ben was pretty much what made Evanesence amazing, the 1st album was incredible, the 2nd album, not so much, cause he had left. So I guess what I'm trying to say is he's probably incorporating some of the sounds he used with Ev. aannd Carly is a female singer with a huge voice so IMO that's gonna draw more comparisons than anything else.

Although I think Carly has MUCH better voice live than Amy.

I just hope Rock radio etc won't ignore them just 'cause Carly was on AI.

Amy is good but IMO Carly is better live. I'm not trying to take anything away from Amy. She's got a fantastic voice.

I'm jst saying that live, Carly has better control over her voice. Amy tends to sound very breathless from the videos I've seen of her. In concert settings I mean. When she's sat at a piano or whatever she sounds incredible!

1. Fallen isn't exactly Ev's first album. There was Origin and two EP's beforehand that were release on a different label (that later went out of business). However, if you ask Amy about this she'll say they are demos. IMO Their best work lies there before Fallen. The Open Door still had some good songs but they are not as good as the ones on Fallen or their pre-fallen material.

2. I hope not either but radio will most likely ignore them or compare them to Ev (and say that Ev was way better).

Oh now that I didn't know LOL. I'll have to check out that pre Fallen stuff.

Yeah I'm sure many will compare them to Ev. But I really hope they don't write them off as Ev copycats, cause in their own right they're a really great band. An awesome bunch of musicians and Carly's a great lead female.

But I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I used to love Ev,

I still do,

but i gotta agree with that.

I can't agree with you ! They're recording a new album and the songs are made by Amy, Terry and Will Hunt ! So you can't say that it's Amy's band !

By the way, I like WATF's album but Carly has no emotion in her voice and I can't accept the image of the band, think about the name, think about some songs which are the same that the ones in Fallen. Can they have a real personality in the future ?

I agree. I definitely prefer Ev's 'Fallen' and earlier material to The Open Door and I think it's in large part because Ben was in the band.

This is very true. Amy's got a great voice, but her live singing technique needs work. She ends up straining and gasping for air during a live performance.

I just wish some Ev fans would stop acting like they're trying to be 'Evanescence 2.0' because they sound similar and happen to have a singer that looks similar to Amy (as if Carly is purposely trying to imitate Amy's looks). Ben was pretty much half of Ev's creative force when he was in the band (there was also David Hodges for awhile), so it makes sense for WATF to sound similar (to Fallen and pre-Fallen material) but they're not trying to duplicate what's been done already.

They're not trying, they are an "Evanescence 2.0", I'm sorry but everything in that band make think to Evanescence. I'm a huge fan of Evanescence and I appreciate this album so I think I can keep my objectivity !

You say that it has a sense that WATF do stuff like Fallen and pre-Fallen but when someone leave a band in his own like Ben, he can do something else ! Think about Tarja now or any musician ;)

He IS doing something else. I said it sounds similar- not that its the same. But, you can have your opinion and I'll have mine.

Totally agree. I mean both bands are doing their own thing. Both are amazing. So there should be room for both :)

I like them a lot. I'm a Ev fan too, and yeah, they do sound similiar, but I think it's to be expected. Amy and Ben split for their own personal reasons, and he's now made a new band. Since he was half of Ev's major starting point, then I think it's reasonalbe to expect the sound to be the same. I wouldn't change it either, were it me.

Anyway, any thoughts on the lable change?

I know that they left but I don't know for what label , I agree on the same sound idea, Carly is really talented and I like her voice, I'm not crazy crazy about this band but I still follow more or less
