Moving On, Part II, I'm Not Angry Anymore… one glance at the tracklisting for Paramore's self-titled fourth album seems to indicate they are focused on new beginnings. Lead singer Hayley Williams is quietly composed as she explains that this latest release is about carving a new path for the band. "This is not about this band five years ago. It's about where we go next, knowing there is always something better to strive for and how we get to the next point" Along with bandmates Jeremy Davis and Taylor York, Hayley is clearly and justifiably proud of the fact that Paramore has survived what would defeat many a lesser band: the loss of two band members, including the primary music writer, just as they were reaching unprecedented levels of international success for an emo pop-punk band.

Their latest release promises a new and exciting sound, with first single Now surprising many. Guitarist Taylor half expected the rest of the band to hate his ideas for the track, but vocal inspiration struck Hayley during the grip of a painful case of writers block. "Suddenly, the lyric 'don't try to take this from me' jumped into my brain and at first I thought wow, this is going to be a rap record…" she smiles, wryly. But the song developed and those lyrics became "really empowering and fun to sing; it's a banshee cry."

With line-up slots second only to Greenday and Blink 182, Paramore have come a long way from their after-school practices in Franklin, Tennessee, nearly a decade ago. Now with millions of fans worldwide, they have just announced a North American tour and are consistently popular festival performers. "Live shows are the main focus of this band; where our personalities get to shine. Festivals are so nerve-wracking, but the experience on stage is just euphoric," says Hayley. Dedicated to the live performance, last summer they only left the "bubble" of the recording studio, working with Nine Inch Nails bassist-turned-producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen, to play Reading and Leeds, before immediately returning to the US.

Even though Paramore have already had tracks on Twilight and Transformers movie soundtracks, Taylor admits it would be a dream to be featured in a Wes Anderson movie. The band have just shot the video for single Now, somewhere in the barren landscape outside Los Angeles, which fans can expect imminently. Collectively they are listening to alt-J, Ratatat, B.O.B., Bill Withers – whom Taylor loves so much he starts playing Lovely Day during the District MTV shoot – and Kitten, who have just been announced as their tour support. While it remains to be seen if this will ever happen, Paramore also have a secret wish for a future Hayley vocal guest spot. "I want to see her do something really soulful" Taylor enthuses. What about a Beyonce-Hayley hook up? "That would be insane," the flame-haired frontwoman exclaims. Paramore featuring Queen B – this has to happen one day.
