  1. I'm seeing them on Sunday with a friend. Really, I am going for Avril. But BSB will be a plus. How was it? I saw Christina Perri this week on Monday, and also Lenny Kravitz and Imagine Dragons on Wednesday. Lenny was really amazing. Christina was awe-inspiring. Imagine Dragons were really good, but more laid back than I was expecting
  2. Sorry I missed this event -- there were too many things going on all at once!
  3. Aw, thanks! Yeah, it was really cool. Worth not winning multiple M&Gs to build up the karma to win this one!
  4. If you guys haven't seen it, I wrote up a pretty detailed post on our bowling experience with Paramore on the ship: http://parentsguidetoconcerts.tumblr.com/post/80430711016/paramore-bowls-fans-win
  5. This was really cool at the San Jose, California show. I like how the choir gowns had the 3 bars logos on them.
  6. ^^ Awesome pictures! I didn't realise the confetti was shaped like butterfiles! Our show in San Jose last night was wondrous -- I kind of wish I had decided to see a couple of additional dates now. The paperless tickets thing was confusing and hence we were about 20 rows back instead of closer up where I like, but our family and friends had an amazing time, sang our hearts out, jumped and danced and jumped some more. The production is really good, and there are some fun surprises throughout. Make ALL your friends go to this show... my friends, daughter and I dragged along my wife and son -- who claim "not to really like Paramore" -- and even those stalwart naysayers had a great time and thought the quality of the stage show was impressive. 7. Great notes! Yeah, the theme nights sound fun. I noticed they do those on the KISS Kruise. At Disney they do a pirate theme night which is pretty fun. It would be fun to have a contest with the fans pitching ideas for the theme nights. On dress, I have to mention that I traveled on the Queen Elizabeth 2 with my dad back in the day, and we had to buy tuxedos for the trip because there were two very very formal dinner nights. Glad those days are in the past TBH.
  8. Wow, this post made me tear up -- it's so sentimental. And Brian, excellent Tell All Your Friends anniversary t-shirt. If you are a dedicated TBS and Paramore fan, she has a keeper for sure.
  9. 20 Feet from Stardom is an excellent film about backup singers.
  10. Wow some great music on this thread. One I re-appreciated recently is the guitar solo in Lynyrd Skynyrd's Freebird. And I am not kidding.
  11. One of many I like are The Joy Formidable. Bring earplugs if you go to one of their shows; and prepare to rock out.
  12. Is anyone going to this show? We're coincidentally on holiday in Viareggio and thinking of coming up by train to see it.
  13. Beg her to come to San Francisco -- I will round people up here and get them to go to the show!
  14. They're touring a lot, and if you get a change to see them live, do so!! I've seen them perform in person three times in the past few months and, as good as they are recorded, they're even more energetic on stage! I am kind of addicted to the song If So right now.
  15. Not OK where I live, but, this is OK since you're from Canada. Isn't it legally required that you go to one NB show per year? P.S. Actually, in the US everyone claims to hate Nickelback yet they sell out huge venues for multiple days... so not sure how that adds up.
  16. Just listened to a long playlist on a roadtrip, and got pretty nostalgic. It included the "Number" EPs, which were pretty great even being a last gasp. "The Light Behind Your Eyes" is just an amazing song.
  17. It's been a busy summer for me so far. I've so far seen live (in reverse order): Black Sabbath (damn good) Panic! At The Disco (really small venue, right at the stage) Steely Dan Jonas Brothers (my friend designs their merch. but i regret nothing they were good) Outside Lands Festival: -Red Hot Chili Peppers -Kaskade -Emile Sande -The Easy Leaves -Nine Inch Nails -Phoenix -Yeah Yeah Yeahs -Atlas Genius (3 times) -James McCartney -Soft White Sixties -Paul McCartney -The National -Band Of Horses -Surfer Blood -Smith Westerns -Foals -The Heavy -Dumpstphunk -Hall And Oates -Jurassic 5 Bob Dylan (not great) My Morning Jacket (phenomenal) Wilco (damn good) ZZ Top (great) Kid Rock Uncle Kracker Skylar Grey (phenomenal) Kenny Chesney Eli Young Band (very good) Kacey Musgraves (excellent) Wiz Khalifa (OK) A$AP Rocky (very good) Trinidad James (really fun) Todd Rundgren (OK) RX Bandits Taylor Swift (excellent, especiall the Ed Sheeran duets) Ed Sheeran Fall Out Boy New Politics Paramore (phenomal even though Hayley was really sick) Killers The Kingston Trio Everybody at Wared Tour - especially Motion City Soundtrack, BVB, Hot Chocolate, Echosmith and all the Ska bands. Pitbull Ke$ha (very good!) Tim McGraw LL Cool J (bland) Ice Cube (pretty good) Public Enemy (excellent) MP (good but short set) YMAS (great sorry i like them a lot) PTV ATL (excellent) Miranda Lambert Lady Antebellum BFD Festival: -Thirty Seconds to Mars -Passion Pit -Silversun Pickups -Awolnation -Jimmy Eat World -The Airborne Toxic Event -Fitz and the Tantrums -Capital Cities -Youngblood Hawke -The Neighbourhood -Wavves -The Mowgli’s -Gold Fields -Diplo
  18. They are kind of bouncy and fun: They toured with Reliant K here last year and it was a nice complement. Hellogoodbye have a new album coming out in October, so they'll probably play some new stuff. Not sure why you didn't get Metric, except they're from Canada so maybe they figured you get enough of them; we hardly ever get them here in San Francisco so happy they are doing the San Jose show.
  19. Still can't believe this very creative and playful video wasn't featured in the VMAs. Especially because it had a subtle back reference to BBBB (Ball_ _ _ _, Bo_ _ _, Bic_ _ _ _ and Ball_ _ _ _ _ _) (fill in the blanks)
  20. Hey did my "old folks wearing Panic! shirts" get any prizes, or did it just garner quizzical looks from the FBR staff?
