Scott!
I deleted my other post about the monitors I bought to show you the glorious amp I got for my birthday. Got super lucky and found it at the used guitar shop. It's the DSL 50 so it doesn't need to be cranked too loud to get a good tone. I'll eventually save up for an actual cab, because I'm using my brother's MG cab, and well, the amp has more potential. So far so good though! For an eventual cab, I may go for a used Marshall 1960, or if I can find a used Mesa...yeah. Gotta try it out though, since I don't know which sounds best for my needs. Harry
My amp is still cooler. More knobs = more tone
Scott!
After using my bro's MG cab for a few weeks, I got my own. But it's a 1960A cab, and it's much better sounding! Like my JCM 2000, I got it used and at a great deal.
Harry
What speakers in the 1960A?
Scott!
I believe they are the Celestion G12T75. Edit: Yep, they are. I run the DSL50 16 ohms into the cab and it really brings out the detail. It sounds very warm and really brings out the tube tone.
Harry
G12T75s sound right. The words you're looking for are "It voices well with my cab" since technically speaking there is no such thing as a cab that "brings out the tube tone" anyway. The MG cabs are absolute garbage, good thing you don't have to use it anymore.
Scott!
yeah thanks for the English lesson The G12T75's are the stock speaker in the 1960 cabs so I wasn't really surprised. They are, in fact, very nice speakers. Especially for the price I got it all for.
Harry
I'm more of a Vintage 30s fan, but the G12T75s do some cool things. They also sound quite good with Mesa Boogie Dual and Triple Rectifiers, just in case in a few years you want one of those amps too.
Scott!
I've never actually used one of the Mesa amps before.
Harry
Anyway, I finally got pictures of my cab that didn't suck because I got a camera from my now deceased grandmother that is not as shit as the other one i borrowed off my mom's friend Love dis shit muthafuckers
Scott!
How 'bout those Mogami cables, eh?
Harry
Actually that isn't Mogami haha. It's some brand called Carson. I never heard of them until I bought that cable actually. I bought one of their guitar cables too, they're pretty good for what they are.
Scott!
I know, haha. I was just think of Mogami because I really like them. For value, I've had a lot of luck with Live Wire.
