  1. I'm on the case!

What seems to be going on is that the Chat is still trying to load the license for 50 users, but because we decided not to renew the 50 user limit, and just accept the 5 user free limit, the board doesn't know that until we tell it to. So I'm going to let IPS know so they can change our license to accept the free one instead of trying to load the 50 limit, which is expired, which is why you can't access the chat right now.

  2. No, I just mean when they link offsite, like to a picture of text thing or whatever. Like if I linked here it wouldn't matter, but if I linked here it would need a 12+ rating. Just so a 12 year old doesn't get sent to a site that uses excessive language or whatever.

As for size of sigs, maybe 200x500 or even like 500x500 or something? 200x500 is what's used on most sites I belong to, though that doesn't mean it would be right for this site.

Oh, and I've taken your advice, I'd forgotten about that option. Thanks Bitter!

A rating for external links that go offsite is possible, but I don't think we'd really allow any links to bad sites to begin with, so we'd remove it before any children go clicking around. We also assume that by viewing this website, you're accustomed to band websites, so any links to music sites in general are at about the same level of maturity as here, so it's pretty trusted. But it's certainly something to consider.

As for the signature size limits, I'm definitely not against it. I don't see any negatives for imposing a limit. But I don't make the decisions, so that one will have to be up to the other admins to debate, but I don't see why there shouldn't be one. It will reduce scrolling on each page, and improve loading times by a few milliseconds, and keep topics a little cleaner in terms of images and clutter.

And I'm glad you found the ability to turn signatures off helpful. I would have forgotten about that feature as well if I didn't just recently have to look it up for a customer of mine for similar purposes, so it was fresh in my memory.

  3. I know sites that have a limit on signatures, and it helps, but it's usually to keep people from creating a huge amount of space to scroll down on the page, not for internet connection purposes. But I can see why that would be frustrating to you for loading so much data that doesn't relate to the content being posted. My recommendation would be in the "forums" tab in your Settings, there is a little check box for signatures. Just check it to disable signatures and then they won't show anymore for you. But a signature limit wouldn't necessarily be a bad idea, it would just be a matter of where do we set that limit? And how big is too big of a signature? I'm usually a fan of just having one or two lines of text in a signature, but on PF I have an image which might be a tad large. It's something I usually never do, but I might even take my current signature down since I've had it up here for a while and it is pretty big. But I've always been a fan of small and subtle signatures (just not here haha), but I know many people on PF probably prefer to have a giant signature, so I can't really decide for everyone. Easiest thing to do in the meantime is just turn signatures off.

  4. Hooray for easy navigation! When we launch a brand new fresh coat of paint on the site in the coming weeks, it will become even easier to navigate then it is now! But that's something I'll save for discussing at a later date when we're ready to talk more about it ;)

Welcome to PF and enjoy the forum!

  5. Well I guess it was part serious, part teasing Josh. They do need to find a new lead singer, but for anyone thinking Josh was going to take charge as lead singer, it just assured them that he wasn't, because he probably doesn't want to or that's not the vision for the band, and so they said that he won't because "his voice isn't strong enough" to poke fun at him.

  6. ^ I was trying to play this on guitar before, and even though I already tune down a 1/2 step and then drop to Db (I hate #'s, sorry), I couldn't play it. I was like, "Is this song even LOWER??" Even though it's annoying to de-tune that much, it sounds epic. :)

Now we can stop talking about how all Paramore songs are drop D and say that they actually have a song that isn't in drop D. Maybe more?! Crazy! haha.

  7. Yes you do. A couple friends and I got to hear "You and I" and "Better Life" in their van while traveling out to Missouri to see them in April. Trust me, this new album will blow your mind.

  8. It doesn't sound the same, but fuck me, I love it more.

I didn't know it was possible to be addicted to 30 seconds of a clip.

And the lyrics are epic too :P

    Agreed!

The lyrics feel very haunting (in a good way) and I love the whole vibe of the song, or at least from what we have heard so far. It's so odd hearing NEW music. When I listened to it for the first time, I felt awkward not knowing the lyrics because it's a new song, and I'm so used to their 3 albums and other songs that I've memorized so well, and it just feels so refreshing knowing there's going to be NEW material. So happy.

  9. I want to take a moment to thank the music gods for having 2 real bands in the finals, and not some crap that was promoted and full of propaganda that the tweens go after. I'm also thankful that Snooki didn't win, because knowing MTV, if they had the opportunity, they would do something like that. So I'm just happy it was two amazing bands in the finals. Sad Paramore won, but for them to get so close to international legends like Green Day, that shows Paramore was a tough cookie to beat, and didn't go down easily. Round of applause to the voters.
