Exceptional book.

I'm a little wary of the movie...I'm just not sure it's going to really capture the spirit of the book. It looks a bit too "cheesy romance" to me.

Yeah, the themes definitely need a little work. We haven't focused on any major improvements to the boards in awhile, but it's on the list when either Ashley or I have some free time.

I don't know who put up that stream, but I believe it is unauthorized.

The new album is entitled brand new eyes and will be released on a certain member's birthday - September 29th.

There's a video over at the PFC where you can catch a brief glimpse of the (awesome) album cover art as well.

"Ignorance" is the first single and will be available to download from iTunes, Amazon.com, etc. on July 7th. That's also the date preorders for the new album start on paramore.net.

Nah - it can be a nice communication tool if you find new people with it - I've met a lot of great people on there and we communicate back and forth. It's only a stalking/celeb following tool if that's all you want it to be.

As for why use it and Facebook - I set up my Twitter to post everything to my Facebook, so people who only use one or the other see the links I post, status updates, etc. I'd honestly dump Facebook and just use Twitter if I could, but I can't get all my friends to use just one thing.

That's what Twitter is - you can follow people and they don't have to reciprocate - it's really a public broadcasting medium for everyone to follow, especially when celebs use it. So don't feel bad - you're using it like it was intended.

Yeah - they used to reply to people thru their band myspace before it got just absolutely overwhelming.

i was listening through my old paramore interviews yesterday and the site has done i think 4 interviews with the band in the past. if you don't know what i'm talking about go to the audio/video page on the main page of this site. basically people posted questions then usually 2 staff members would go meet them and record the interview and make it available for everyone to download. anyway yeah we haven't done one since september '07 i think so i was wondering if there was any plans for another one soon.

We've talked about it, but no plans at the moment. They do a LOT more press now than they used to and, although they always enjoy doing interviews with us, we don't want to infringe too much on their time and force them to do yet another interview when they've already done 1,000 that day.

That said, we do ask different kinds of questions to make it fun

I don't know why it keeps defaulting back for the Super Mods. I'm going to have to play around with the vBulletin settings and see if I can figure out what's going on.

EDIT: Ok - I found the issue - it was a setting in the usergroup. It really should be fixed now.

PMs are definitely the way to go. I get emails when I get new private messages AND it's the first thing I check when I log into the site.

I try to go through as many threads as I can, particularly anything posted in the non off-topic sections - but if there are a few days that I'm away from the web for most of the day, I can easily miss stuff like this when I come back and there are hundreds of new threads or threads with new posts.

I've put one of the copies of the Summer Tic EP that I have up for sale on eBay if anyone's interested...ordinarily, I wouldn't post something like this on the boards, but since I know a lot of people don't have a copy and I'd like for it to go to a big Paramore fan, I figured I'd give everyone a heads-up.

I hate Oasis, but their importance music is 50,000 times what Paramore's will be, I hope Paramore lose tbh.

An awfully bold statement to make considering Oasis has been around since 1993 and Paramore has been around since 2004. I don't think we know who will ultimately prove to be more "important."

I could argue all Oasis has ever done is knock off the Beatles, repeatedly. I like them, but I don't think they're that "important" to modern music.

And that's not the poll's question anyway. The question is "who's your favorite?"

You do have to register with AP.net to vote - but that's worth doing just so you can argue with people over there when you get bored.

Nice, but you might wanna change the character limit lol I tried changing mine and could only get half of what I wanted, cause of the 20 character limit, where as there's people around with like three lines of text as their title from when they were changed by admins Maybe change it to 40 or 50?

Yep - had to change the character limit - it's now 200, so have fun

And yes - admins could bypass the limit before, which is why I didn't actually know we had one.

A few changes we've put in place that I wanted to let everyone know about:

1) You can now set your own user title (the information that appears underneath your username.) Go into your User CP and click on "Edit Your Details" and you'll be able to choose whatever title you want.

Stay away from anything obscene or that could be offensive to others - we'll be watching for that. Otherwise, have fun!

2) We've enabled the option that shows ages in everyone's user fields when you post. We had a bunch of requests for this, so it's now turned on. If you have any issues with this, go into your User CP, click on "Edit Your Details" and choose "Hide Age and Date of Birth" and this will prevent your age from showing up with your posts or on your profile.

3) We know there have been issues with the speed/load times of the boards recently and thanks to everyone for putting up with that. We think we've fixed what was causing the problem, but if you continue to have issues, let us know.

Call me weird but I'd like to see people's ages in their profiles. I got used to it being visible in another forum and I'm always interested in how old people actually are when compared to the image they convey. It's tiresome to shuffle through people's profiles everytime.

 

The forum has worked fine BTW! Do you have any idea how big the database can grow before it becomes a problem, anyway? As it seems right now, it isn't big enough to cripple the server.

Dreamhost has never given us a database limit and at about 600mb, so far, I think we're ok in that regard. They've always been willing to move us to a new server in the past when performance started to degrade as well.

The real problem was that the site was getting hit for 20GB of downloads/streams a day from Chinese mp3 search engines and the like. I've fixed that problem now by making all our media files zip files instead of mp3, which we should have done in the first place.

As for making ages and the like visible, I'll have a look in the vBulletin settings and see what we can do.

I can take it off everyone's profiles, but I don't see an option to allow people to choose whether they want to hide it or not - granted, I just did a quick glance through the vBulletin settings, so it might be in there somewhere.
