  1. Thanks Allie :) And I'm sure you'll get a chance soon.

    woo woo party.

On a more serious note, I took this from Stephen Christian's blog. It's a great little story and I thought I should share this with those who haven't seen it.

when a scorpion stings your hand.

there once was a hindu holy man who saw a scorpion floundering around in the water. he decided to save it by stretching out his finger. but the scorpion stung him. the man still tried to get the scorpion out of the water, but the scorpion stung him again. a man nearby told him to stop saving the scorpion that kept stinging him. but the holy man said, "it is the nature of the scorpion to sting. it is my nature my love. why should i give up my nature to love just because it is the nature of the scorpion to sting?"

it should be our nature to love regardless of who we are, regardless of what has been done to us. its hard. i know. trust me. people are always going to sting you. they are going to rip into your character. they are going to be the ones in the platform telling you that your views are wrong. they are going to be in the pulpits pointing fingers in judgement. they are going to be the ones who hold your whole race responsible for the actions of one person's actions.

but that doesn't give you the right to despise; for hate for those who hate is still hate. in spite of those who may sting you remain in what you know to be your nature. love.

  2. I was just going to post a list of stuff here, but I decided to pick a few and talk about them a tiny bit. Sorry if any of these have been recommended before, I haven't had much time to read lately. Anway, without further ado:

    1997

A great band out of Chicago, reminiscent of the Hush Sound, with a bit more edge. The female vocalist shows a hint of Hayley's style, which is always nice. I believe A Better View of the Rising Moon will be out on April 17th. Pick it up if you like :)

    Number One Gun

They're back! Or rather, he's back. Jeff Schneeweis returns to music after a year off and is now recording a new Number One Gun album! It's not clear if the others in the band will return, but it's encouraging to see Jeff posting demos of the new songs on his myspace. Justin from Brighten appears to be doing guest vocals on at least one of the new songs.

Straight out of Philly, these guys know how to get you dancing. I'm dying to see these guys play live. If you like indie/electronic dance, these guys are worth a listen.

    Albert Hammond, Jr.

Rock and roll at some of it's finest :) Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond, Jr. continues to impress me with his songwriting. I highly recommend a listen.

    That is all for now.

  3. Gah, every time I watch the Paper Thin Hymn vid, right around the 1:45 mark when Deon raises his guitar in the air, I wish I could rewind back to that night and be there again lol That was incredible.

edit: bah that sucks the Almost isn't playing. I'm unfortunately going to miss the Paramore show here on the 23rd, too. :(

  4. Sweet! I'm not sure what my plans are yet this summer, bc I'm in Chicago from May until late June, then I may go to Hawaii, but if I get the chance I'm definitely going to Warped. Tinker Field here in Orlando is pretty cool for shows.

  5. So finally the videos are uploaded. The video quality isn't that great, but the audio is good. Please forgive the shakiness. I was getting smashed down there, especially during Paper Thin Hymn :) And the fin video still gives me chills. Most amazing song experience. Comments on youtube pleease!

    Here are a few:

    Never Take Friendship Personal

    Paper Thin Hymn

    The Unwinding Cable Car

    Godspeed

    *fin Encore (SO AWESOME)

And here is the entire setlist,

  6. He was wearing a black title Deon during the set, but he must've taken it off afterward. The guys were sweaty as hell haha. I could be wrong though, I just know they're in there somewhere because Jamie asked them to get in on the pic. This is like Where's Waldo, haha

  7. It was Anberlin with Bayside and Jonezetta at the Club at Firestone in Orlando, but that night was special because it was TWLOHA's birthday :)

edit: I'm almost finished uploading vids from that show, I'll post it in the Anberlin thread soon.
