  1. Seems it's pretty much official at this point. Its b-side will be a remix of the song and the record itself will be "broken heart shaped." I would love to get this, but there are no record stores by me. :( Of course, I'll be in Boston, where they have one of the best record stores, the week BEFORE Record Store Day, haha.

  2. Haha, I was pretty stoked for Torah Bright. She actually won gold in half-pipe at the Vancouver Olympics, so she's pretty awesome. She's Australian but she lives and trains in Salt Lake City. I was looking at how many Australians are in the Winter Olympics though... it's surprising and hilarious. I know they have some mountains, but I picture them training in the Outback pretending dirt is snow. :P

Edit: Well would you look at that... three whole snowy months in one part of Australia, lol. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snowy_Mountains

  3. Aww! Watching him win moguls made me really happy. Canada's been kicking butt lately, huh? :)

I just watched Volosozhar and Trankov win Pairs Figure Skating (at the beginning of the games, I wasn't sure but now I love them!) and Women's Half-Pipe. So good!!

  4. Yeah, one thing we've always respected is the band's privacy. Whether stuff like this happens or not, it's not our business to be discussing it here. This is laid out pretty clearly in the Board Rules...

    3. We won't tolerate offensive posts. Any discussion of their personal matters will, in general, be removed (if it feels like you shouldn't post it, you probably shouldn't). If something offensive is posted, mods and admins will remove it. If you post it again, you'll be banned.

Not saying you're going to be banned (ignore that part in this case)... let's just keep it about the music. ;)

  5. There's probably some chance. They can only sell a certain percentage from each section during presales, so they can't get rid of all the good seats. The only thing to remember is that there are multiple presales, so there will be less good seats left. The Facebook presale is tomorrow, if you want to try that.

  6. Chriss, its Jason on AWKIF. Josh took over immediately after Jason left in late 2005, or early 2006...cant exactly remember when they brought Hunter in.

Either way, I can't have a screamed version for the wedding lol.

I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. :) I think they may have done it when Josh wasn't on tour to prepare for his wedding and Justin might have filled in. Taylor probably could do it, but he's super shy when it comes to singing, haha.

And you're right, definitely no screamed version at the wedding. :P

We'll find something. Like you said, we've got nine months to figure it out.

  7. the recorded version is Jason screaming, not taylor.

I really like the FBR15 My Heart with Taylor on acoustic. Lots of crowd noise though. blahhhh

It's Jason, not Josh? I always thought it was him since he did it live, even when Jason was in the band.

Haha, in that FBR15, besides the crowd (I was in that crowd... I'm singing somewhere in there! lol), Taylor messes up on a chord.

  8. ^ They don't usually release single instrument/vocal tracks for every song. There are just a few floating around here and there. Instrumentals are usually easier to find. For the vocal track, we would have to talk to the label or management to see if 1) they even have access to that and 2) if they'd be willing to share it (sometimes for legal reasons, they may not be able to). I'm going to do my best, but I can't guarantee anything.

  9. ^ Nah, that would be cool, but music tech and computer tech are two very different things.

haha same with me, shows and meets. most were back in the pre-riot days, but yea.

yea, not sure how you could do that vocal isolation thing...no clue...itd be a decent backup plan to the band of course. lol

You used to go to a lot of shows in Boston, right? I didn't get into Paramore until May 2007, so we probably just missed each other. I lived in Boston from 2005 to 2009 and went to a ton of shows up there, but I sadly missed all of the small shows at Axis and Avalon. :(

Well the ideal way would be to get the individual tracks from The Final Riot, haha. Not entirely possible, but not totally impossible either. I'll ask around.

  10. That's what I was thinking, if there's a way to isolate the vocal track and take out the parts where she talks to the crowd. Not sure how easy that'd be though.

Haha, the band knows me from running the site and going to meet & greets, so it's not like we hang out regularly (or ever, really). They see me front row at shows, mostly.

  11. Ah, congratulations, Jarrod! It's really cool hearing stories like yours and Suzie's and it's especially amazing that you met right here. :)

For the acoustic version, are you looking for one performed by the band (maybe the one from The Final Riot?) or could it be anyone who will do a great job of it? My friend Sam Yung (who also used to be active on the PF Boards) did an amazing piano cover of My Heart a few years ago, and I think it would be great for your first dance. If you like it, I could definitely get in touch with him for a HQ version.

PS - If you do that video asking the band to do an acoustic version, I will make sure it gets posted on PF and on Twitter. If I can do any better than that, I absolutely will.

  12. ^^ It's just that he does a lot of writing and co-writing, sometimes under different aliases, but always credited (his credit list on BMI's website is pages long). So why all of a sudden would he be writing under a veil of secrecy? It's not like Paramore would have asked him to because they've always been great with listing co-writers. lol

Also, any mention of him ghost-writing for anybody has been removed from his Wikipedia page. Either it wasn't true or he really did want to remain anonymous. I guess we'll never know. :P

  13. You really can’t trust Wikipedia with much of anything. It’s a public site that anyone can edit. Who’s to say someone didn’t write that to get Gregg some free publicity (not realizing that he really doesn’t like it)? It wouldn't be the first time something like that had been done.

I think you’re reading a little too much into things, if I’m honest. The lyrics are 100% Hayley’s writing style (Still Into You is about her boyfriend Chad and Ain’t It Fun was written by Hayley and Taylor at an airport, I believe) and this album actually displays each member’s individual influences for once. They went through a HUGE change when they lost their principal songwriter and Taylor had to step up to the plate. They also used a producer (Justin Meldal-Johnson) who had worked on albums very different from anything they'd ever done. However, anyone who has been a fan for years will tell you that they really weren't surprised by what's on this album. If anything, it was more like, "Finally!!"

I don’t think Paramore needs a ghost writer, and I don’t think they would ever be embarrassed to admit that they needed some help writing after losing two key members. JMJ helped write several songs and he is not only credited on the album but talked-up pretty much any time they’re asked about their music because they respect him so much.

As far as that last tweet from Hayley - it's obvious that she doesn't know who Gregg is and anyone I know who's closer with the band than I am doesn't either. That sucks cause he is a great songwriter, but to me, it also means he had nothing to do with this album (and hey - if he secretly did and didn't want to be mentioned, let's respect his wishes). I do have an email out to their manager for further confirmation though.

You seem really into his work though, which is awesome, and I would love for you to post about him more in the Other Music forum. He's written some incredible songs, and more people should know about him. :)

  14. I know Gregg Alexander's work well (I loved that New Radicals album and loved hearing about any time he cowrote with other people) and have never heard his and Paramore's names in the same sentence before this moment. You say you have proof through research, so could you please provide that? Paramore is not the kind of band to leave out co-writing credits, and he's not listed as having written for them on ASCAP or BMI either. If he really was involved and went through that much trouble to keep his name out of it, why bring it up now? I also don't think there's any mystery surrounding those songs.

If he did have some involvement that no one is aware of, cool. He's a great songwriter. I just think a statement like "Gregg Alexander is responsible for Paramore's new songs," warrants a little more information than you're providing, is all.

  15. Like everybody said, it depends on what she already has and what she may prefer. Has your little sister been a fan for a long enough time to really appreciate a Final Riot poster from 2008? If so, I say go for it. If she's a newer fan and wouldn't get the significance, I wouldn't spend $25 on an 11x17 poster. They have that new 2014 Calendar Poster, which is not quite your average band poster: http://store.paramore.net/store/show/ZGRQE Maybe she'd like that?

  16. It's not really bashing, just talking about it.

However, the best way to keep old posts like this in the past is to just leave them be. Commenting on them bumps them back to the top and then everyone sees them - the last post on this was from 2008, so nobody was continuing it. Rule of thumb: if the last post in a thread is more than a few months old, it's dead. :P

  17. Haha, I think the band lesson of the day is, "Don't be a douche to the person who writes the song lyrics." He's a great songwriter and musician - I will give him that and that's all I will give him.

I'm really glad I spoke with Zac after that Half-Noise and Paper Route show. I wasn't going to, but Brent asked me to say hi for him, so I felt obligated. He's a great kid, and I'm stoked he's doing something that makes him really happy.
