After you type the text you want:
(On the top of the screen) click "Layer" >> "Layer Style" and then choose whatever one you want to use. From that window, you can also pick other effects (drop shadow, outer glow, etc.) Tell me if you need more help

i think it also depends on the size of the tattoo whether you have to cry or not. because mine was fairly small, so he paused a few times and only took short lines everytime because he knew it didn't take that much time at all. -

I have no idea what that means :/ I assume it has something do to with the settings, but I can't find out without having photoshop. You don't have Quicktime, right?
