  1. hi my name is jarrod church.

i helped ren write "the paramores, seasons 1 and 2" but he was the mastermind, and then i delivered the beast of a script to paramore in providence, rhode island september, 2006. that venue is now closed.

ren and i go way back. as many people on here can attest to. i havent spoken to him in a long time but will always consider him a great friend who was always there for me. we had some good laughs and sparked alot of good shit on these boards for a while.

anyways, this thread made me grin. the only reason i came on here was to post my top albums list for the year. im glad i did.

FINALLY an OLD BRO!!! Its been too long man. How have things been? I noticed you got THE Girl, the one you had wanted for the longest time!

I dunno what happened between us man, i dont know why we stopped talking and all that.

thanks for coming and posting. Brings back some good times

    Anyways hope its all sweet

    Ren

do i count as one? ive never been to any of their shows since i dont live in the US but I got their AWKIF cd from a friend and i loved it ever since till they became really popular.

Totally!!! Just cause you werent part of the forums back then (another thing you might discover years after knowing of a band), doesnt mean you ain't old school. AWKIF is the prerequisite, and i know they didn't tour the Philippines back then (Im from Malaysia). Not everyone has the resources and/or time to go overseas to see them. So Don't worry, if reading my first post brings back memories, then you're alright :)

  2. ^agreed! I remember that feeling so well, back when i first heard Pressure, and just fell in love with this band right away. And i like the fact that ive been a fan since day one and all that goes with it. But like some people have said before, i dont think the old fans are better than the new ones. We all love and support Paramore and thats what its all about ;D

Pressure was the first song i heard too. Its still my favorite song by Paramore. haha for me maybe since day one plus a few months. And i think the new fans have to be more diehard than us to even get anywhere close to them (To meet them)

Thats why I rarely post anymore.

But yeah, something about early Paramore...I think for me it's cos it was that stage of development in my life where you learn who you are, and they were a band in a similar place both musically and personally. It was exciting! Plus every vid from warped 2006 just takes me back to that summer!

Yeah it sure looks like no i knew quite well is still on here. Either than or they are lurkers.

Seems like some new fans who feel like they have a sense of entitlement have scared some of us old fellas away

Totally agree with you on them having an impact on your life. I had the same feeling about it back then. Growing with a band. I guess they outgrew us?

    Ren

  3. Its just all about feelings fellas

Just like growing up in different times, different feelings comes with the territory

For me the 90's were alot different than the late 2000's, same with old school and new school fans. You can have good, bad or a mix of both feelings about different times, just like i felt back then and now.

Saying that old school fans is better than new school fans isn't fair but it happens. Its stupid in a sense that its like saying im older than you, but if you had the choice you would've been born first. Somehow its all left to fate, and some people discover new bands earlier than others, only difference being when you discover them when they're small, it feels more SPECIAL because you feel like you're part of an exclusive club (Kinda like having a baby and seeing it grow up, and your kid ends up being great or a complete shithead) but when everyone is on the same bandwagon, it feels crowded in the end and you want to fuck off or you like the new company. It felt even more exclusive because the few i knew on here hailed from different parts of the world (Including myself) and its amazing to find a gem in other corners of the globe. Some might call it a crazy adventure.

Maybe old school paramorefans feel superior because they felt they had a BIGGER role in the bands development? Or maybe somewhat like me i feel nostalgic towards those times, because lets all face it, who the fuck wants to be amongst a million people chasing the same nickel and dime?

But new school Paramore fans have brought them to be an internationally known band, and whether they are loyal or the 'twilight' fans they're still supporting, and it might segregate some of us, but im sure its all the same for the band some of us love so much.

We're all guilty of jumping on the bandwagon, because there is probably another band who is starting to make it big, and you discovered them recently, and joined their forums only to find out there is a bunch of fellas, who have been with the band and on their forums for the last 6 years, and feel some hostility towards the newbies.

It doesnt seem like a 'cool' thing to know a band from music videos or mainstream media nowadays (maybe because theres alot of bullshit music out there), but im still honored to know that even though Paramore have grown so much, that they came from the most humble beginnings and are trying their best to maintain some sort of normality in their lifestyles. Riot and Brand new eyes may not have had such a profound impact on me than AWKIF, But things change and you dont always like it. and because you dont like what there is now, doesnt mean i and others cannot think about the good old days when things felt better or just plain right. Life ain't fucking fair, and we all have to deal with it and just move on. Its not the end of the world, but maybe an end of an era?

  4. The guy tries to make a nice, nostalgic thread, and all these little shits come and ruin the whole tone!

Just cos they spend half their days posting here and think they own the place doesn't mean they can get pissed when a conversation sparks that isn't initiated or involving them.

    You know I'm right ;)

A guy who speaks the truth. One of the reasons why i probably dont see any of my old pals on here anymore

  5. So cool to hate eh?

Not sure where Ren said anything about being better than anyone cause he knew of them a long time ago. Seems to me like he just wanted to see if the old people were still around.

Thanks man u read me like a book.

As for old people being around, i can see now why some have stayed, but can also see why alot of my buds have left.

    Exactly.

So people, don't get your undies in a bunch over this thread, mkay? It's merely a trip down memory lane. No one ever said anything about being better than anyone else so let's not start that nonsense.

Thanks. I remember you from them days aswell. Im merely seeing whether old guys are still around and whether they remember that feeling. The Humble beginnings

  6. I remember the "olden days".

I also remember you Ren when I first joined here, still got the Skyline?

    haha those times

yeha man i still have it, though its parked right now cause its winter. I drive a sleeper Honda CRX for the most part now.

I remember you too man! Honestly vaguely though. I forgot what we talked about then.

    Ren

  7. its good to know there are some old timers still around!

    Back then was so inspiring.

But i can't help but feel like something has been lost since then.

And somehow it makes me feel a lil resentful, because its something you can't ever have again

I remember some of you by usernames, but it seems like some of the people i knew arn't on here anymore

    Ren

  8. ^ example: i JUST met them in october 09, seen them in 06 and been in the fanclub since it started.

im an older fan and it annoyed me SO SO SO much when they started to get big, not gunna lie

but i'm over it, whatever. it happens to bands, complaining about it isn't going to help.

ive been there thru the new fans from riot and the new fans from twilight and alot of people are bitching just cuz of the twilight fans.

idk why people are making such a big deal over it. paramore is happy.... no one owns them no matter when or how they got into them.

i just think it's all stupid.

but i just ignore all of that and all i care about is that I'M a fan, i dont care who else likes them or not. all thats important is that i do.

yeah it sucks because they don't seem as personal to me anymore, i cant see them in smaller places, ticket prices will go up, i cant easily get to the front when i see them anymore, and it's not as easy to meet them and have a full conversation with them.

i DO wish it was still like back in the day but it will never be like that again and by getting mad about it just isn't worth it and it's not going to change how it is now

I felt exactly the same way for a while.

and the personal touch is the feeling i miss!

    Ren

  9. What happened to the good old days when people would've gotten excited for their favourite band getting new fans and listeners? You guys need to find a band that wants to stay as some kind of revered treasure of the inner circle, and good luck trying to find one. Paramore were ridiculously good at what they did and they hit it big, that's life. What about the newer fans who will mostly likely NEVER get to hang out with the band like you guys did?

Just...be happy, you don't have it that bad :P

You've hit the nail a quarter of the way in. As for revered treasures, ive found plenty where i live. im not knocking on them for getting big. i knew it would happen from day one. its just that feeling i had that i miss the most.

it's not like it's a bad thing they're mainstream. it's just paramore fans that think they are all hardcore and know like 2 songs annoy me.

Im sure there are fans of many other bands who feel exactly the same way.

  10. Hello

This Thread is for the old school ParamoreFans. Ya'll Know you who are :)

The Ones who remember the days when Paramore used to play small venues, open for bigger bands (some of which are smaller than them now) and had maybe 50 people at a show singing to every word

The Ones who remember a time when AWKIF was scarce, and had to go to that special music store to pick it up, order it online and get it mailed it, or in my case go to another country to get (Japan)

The Ones who went to a show and met Paramore intimately, and had a crazy story to go with it. Maybe even traveled long distances to see them play and be a recognized face in the crowd

The ones who were part of a lil' show someone wrote which spanned 2 seasons and a special dude who printed it all out and gave it to the band. The Ones who remember leaving a thoughtful message on how Paramore had changed their lives.

The Ones who would stay on PFboards for hours to be the first to see every Paramore update, check on each others posts and even chat on the threads (even though theres something called MSN and AIM) filling them up with within hours about constructive talk or BS.

And Last but not least,The Ones who had a epiphany when they first put AWKIF in their CD player and still get moved by it when they listen to the same CD today.

You all know who you are. Even Though we might not talk much or at all anymore, we all know that some of our talks and experiences together have helped each other through bad times, and made great times even greater. Our love for the a band who touched our hearts, and gave us hope for something better.

Its been such a long time since ive been on the boards, maybe because i grew apart and became somewhat isolated. Maybe i didn't like the way things changed. Or maybe i just got too busy and focused on other aspects of life. But one thing is for certain, i do miss the guys and gals i used to talk to on the boards and what we had shared. I miss the feeling that came with it as well.

So If You're still around, or planning on making a comeback, make yourself known again.

Or in other words, just say Hi ;)

  11. I'm not too sure if he's ever been sober when I've seen him ever either to be honest haha. I'm guessing you OBVIOUSLY know Steven too? They live together I think... Or at least they used to.

I totally forgot about Aspirations and The Grave Life. The rest I've heard OF I just haven't actually heard them.

Yeah, one of hte guitarists worked at one of the HMVs in Metrotown... I'm not too sure if he does now. It;s been a while since I've seen him there.

And the drummer is a tattoo artist. He works at Irezumi on West Cordova. His stuff is amazing.

I went to the Warped in Calgary. I needed to see Protest The Hero. They're my favourite band and not seeing them just wasn't an option.

Hey, do you have Facebook or anything? I gotta add you up...

    u should check them out.

Their drummer hes my friends roommate.

Protest the hero came here a while back. but thats awesome u got to go to calgary for warped! Ballin!!!

    What about you?

I dont think ive ever been around a sober Stiles before. haha

The first 3 bands i know about aswell. Not too well tho. one of the guitarists from ITS works at long and mcquade in east van.

Daggermouth (RIP), Aspirations, The Grave life, Slingshot, Lights below, Set foot, A Crows Glory, Carpenter and a bunch more

Sucky that Warped didn't come here this year

  13. Which Chris?

    Revill or Stiles?

That sucks. So bad. I hate moving in te snow. I di dit last year and it was helll

Stiles. Yeah its a pain. but its gotta be done. I hate moving.

so what other bands from the local scene do ya like?

  14. Were you by any chance at the Cancer Bat show in September with the singer from LWL?

And the new TBT singer is from here?

Also, I'm guessing you OBVIOUSLY know who Callahan are haha.

Like 3 months ago september? naw. I went to one a year and a bit ago tho.

yeah i know the Chris from callahan. the other dudes not so much. they're a good band.

Yeah Chris from TXBK is from Abby. The rest of the guys are from Langley.

Man these last 2 weeks have been hell. So hard to get around. and i gotta move house in this weather

  15. It's snowing like a bitch in Abbotsford haha.

By the way, I just repped you for your Living With Lions stuff. I love that band. Haha.

    And it aint stopping

yeah those fellas are me bros. I went to abby a while back. See a band called A textbook tragedy play. Their new (well as of a while ago) singer is from there. Nice town. Well except for the crackheads moving there. Bad stuff.

  16. it doesnt rain THAT much

Somewhat true. its from a daggermouth song. It goes something like this

"Ain't no party like a Daggermouth party cause a daggermouth party dont stop!!!.. What's up all you two timing bitches, daggermouth's here to set the record straight, representing rain city canada where the sun don't shine, skooling kids since 2004. Gonna take ur girl, your sister and your mom so watch your back, daggermouths coming to your city to show u how its done!"

    Ren

  17. I completely agree, but at the same time, that takes a lot of money that the government doesnt have... and I think they let gay boys give blood as long as they havent ever had sex with another dude. and lesbians , im pretty sure, can give blood because they dont really insert anything anywhere unless.... but I wont get into detail..

yeah but if u get at it too hard u might get rug burn. that might increase the risk

  18. Im straight. But i do gay things sometimes (understatement). Sometimes i wish i were really gay. Cause theres nothing nothing like sitting down with ur gay friend, watching a football or hockey game, drinkin beers Or goin out and pumping iron. At least you have things in common.

But the biggest challenge is actually being gay and having a gay friend but not being gay with each other. I mean a little stroking here and there is okay but it sure as hell aint gay!!!

    Disregard what i just said.

Im straight as a a rocket
