2010 MTV VMAs Could Be a Memorable Night for Paramore's Hayley Williams

Hayley Williams, the front woman of the rock group Paramore, has multiple reasons to be anticipating this year's MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs). First Paramore's video for "Ignorance" has been nominated for "Best Rock Video." Additionally, the video for "Airplanes," a song Williams collaborated with hip hop artist B.o.B on, has garnered MTV VMA nominations for "Video of the Year," "Best Hip Hop Video," and "Best Collaboration." The "Airplanes" video also secured B.o.B a MTV VMA nomination for "Best Male Video."

 

Williams and the rest of Paramore have been using the Internet to drum up support for "Ignorance." The group has a number of links on their official website (www.paramore.net) connecting to the MTV VMA "Best Rock Video" voting page. Furthermore, Williams has looked to her 900,000 plus Twitter followers (@yelyahwilliams) for a competitive edge in the voting process.

 

The "Ignorance" nomination for "Best Rock Video" serves as Paramore's first MTV VMA nomination. However, musical recognition isn't foreign territory for Paramore. In 2007 the success of Paramore's second album, Riot!, which includes "Misery Business," "Crush Crush Crush," and "That's What You Get," help landed Paramore a Grammy nomination for "Best New Artist."

 

Williams' collaboration with B.o.B on "Airplanes" has been very successful. The fact that "Airplanes" received four MTV VMA nominations can partly be seen as a tribute to Williams' talent. Digital Spy, the largest independent entertainment website based out of the United Kingdom, reported that B.o.B showed the interest in creating music with Williams.

Furthermore, Digital Spy went on to report that B.o.B and Williams never actually met during the production of "Airplanes" (Read the full Digital Spy story here). Both Williams and B.o.B did the necessary work for "Airplanes" at separate times. However, the face to face meeting between the two artists will be inevitable, although the meeting may not take place at the MTV VMAs. The official MTV VMA website has confirmed B.o.B will be in attendance at the VMAs, but there has been no confirmation of Williams or Paramore appearing at the award show. Currently Paramore is playing shows as a part of the Honda Civic Tour, but there are no concert dates for the weekend of the VMAs, leaving one to speculate if Williams could be in attendance. If not, the inevitable meeting of the two artists will take place when B.o.B joins Paramore on tour in the United Kingdom later this year.

 

Between the "Ignorance" nomination and the multiple nominations of "Airplanes," September 12th could be a very exciting night for Williams. The MTV VMAs will air on MTV at 9:00pm eastern time.
