Hate Runs In The Family Enrique looked down at the small boy sprawled on the bed, pajamas at once too loose because he was underfed and too short because he was growing and no one had bothered to buy him a new pair. The boy’s hair was in need of a trim, something else no one had bothered to take care of. Why should the boy be taken care of? No one had wanted him. Enrique hated the boy. Hated him for ruining his life, for dropping in and trying him to a menial life with a woman he didn’t love or even really care about. But he only hated the boy as much as he hated himself, for everything the boy had done to him, Enrique had done to himself. Enrique reached a hand and touched the boy’s cheek, making him wince in his sleep. If course; there was a bruise there. As he drew back his hand, Enrique wondered of he’s ever be able to touch the boy without hurting him, to look at him without hating him. He would have to stop hurting himself first, he was sure, and stop hating himself. If that were the case, it wouldn’t happen any time soon.
