  1. i really know such a story here in germany happend a bad thing .. it was not an celeb but that doesnt matter ..

he was in a train and saw 2 guys who mistreated a younger boy than he said something to them so they stoped it but when he gets out of the train the 2 boys followed him and he killed him with a blade .. thats soo terrible .. -.-'

god that Matthew Leone is still alive

Insanely fucked up stuff right there

Really hope those boys serve/are serving time behinds bars for that bullshit

  2. No idea who Leone is, nor who Madina Lake are, but regardless that's totally fucked up. Wish a speedy recovery to him.

While it shows courage and mental strength to be able to step in to try to help a situation like that, unfortunately you never know how it's going to turn out and it's generally almost never a good idea to take on someone considerably stronger/bigger than yourself.

This shit is honestly probably 1/3rd of the reason why I took up weight trainings, so these kinda coward, senseless assholes hopefully will think twice about messing with me.

  3. I'm so glad to hear you're alright!

My brother was in a pretty bad car crash back in October (he totalled our SUV... the fire chief said he should've been dead), so I definitely know that feeling of "What if just one thing had been different about the situation?"

All that really matters though is that you're okay though. Hopefully your friend has learned a very important lesson about not trying stupid stuff while driving.

Sucks to hear about your bro being in a bad crash :(

Yeah, I definitely hope he does learn a lesson.

It's just so fucked up, some friends and I just want a ride home and we get more than we bargained for because my friend (I use the term friend rather loosely, he's really one of those egotistical, self absorbed, pretentious idiots you try to just avoid being around) decided it would be okay to toy with people's lives.

I'll never understand the whole driving to impress your friends bullshit. Maybe it's a bit safer on a long, wide stretch of road, but seeing as how I live in a major city in the built up inner suburbs, there's all sorts of poles (and indeed he did hit a pole) and cars parked on the side of the road you could end up hitting.

It's just fucking stupid and not worth it.

  4. Nearly 5am now, just been in a car accident for the first time ever.

Some friends and I were getting a ride home by a friend, just after a party had finished.

Seemed all good until the idiot decided to show off and attempt to drift around the roundabout and lost control of the car, causing it to spin out, and then crashing into a pole with a metal box thingy attached to it, which dragged under the rear of the car after the pole was knocked down.

The car hit the pole only about 30cm/one foot rearwards of the back passenger door. Everyone managed to get out unharmed, apart from me and one other guy being a bit winded. So I guess it wasn't so bad, but even just being involved in something like that really puts it into perspective into how much worse it could have been had he been going faster, or had been drinking (thank fuck, he was sober).

Still kinda letting it all sink in and feeling a bit shaken up by it, but I'm okay and safe.

  5. To my ears from some of the stuff I've heard from the new album, they're clearly a band that although still has retained that pop rock image, has a more diverse range of influences than the pop rock crowd.

Hell, just the fact that Lost Tree exceeds 7 minutes proves that the band is more interested in creativity and artistic expression, rather than worrying about whether every single song on the album is going to be radio pop rock material and whether the attention span of seemingly 95 per cent of today's kids is capable of absorbing a song more than 3:30 long.

Whether they actually listen to that kinda stuff, I don't know, but the band is at times bordering on progressive rock with their compositions (I'd go so far to say Lost Tree IS a progressive rock song) which is pretty much the antithesis of what pop rock bands aim to do with their songs where their aim is to generally deliberately keep things simple.

That's not to say I don't appreciate simpler songs, but sometimes there is just something about a well executed prog rock song/song bordering on prog rock that can really own a simpler song and I think VersaEmerge manage to do this.

  6. Heh I actually really like Fallen and Open Door (never heard anything else from Evanescence though).

I only got into the band about 2 months ago, when I was drunk at with some female friends and they had an Evanescence live DVD and put it on.

Afterwards I just said "I've become a fan now" haha.

  7. Suffice to say, I don't dissect songs like Harry boy over here does. I hear a song, I like it or I don't. End of story.

And that's exactly a problem I have with much of today's generation.

A lot of people don't take the time to understand why they like anything anymore.

It's just a case of "Well, cause I do". I don't understand what's so hard about just taking a little time to read about something and to understand it better or to listen to something more deeply and truly get connected with it rather than just "YEAH MAN I LIKE!".

It's not a case of me sitting down and dissecting songs all day, far from it.

I enjoy a good song like anyone else, but I think an understanding of something on a more than a superficial and shallow level is important too.

  8. Alright, here we go. The first Paramore song I heard was Misery Business, however, that was long before I started listening to Paramore. (I think it was around 07). In 08, I heard That's What You Get and immediately went to iTunes and bought that and the rest of the album soon after. I will admit, part of what drew me in was the production on Riot! From the incredibly massive drum sounds, to the vocals that were unbelievably clear, the sound of Riot! immediately caught my attention. The music, of course, is the core of it all, but I do think the production definitely plays a role (like a catalyst?) in the music and how people listen to it. (obvious or not)

Skip ahead a few years to today, and my favorite song is still That's What You Get, and my favorite Paramore album is still Riot!. Don't get me wrong, BNE is amazing and a major progression for the band, but Riot! just has *that* sound. It's a sound that will likely not be repeated for a while. (some may call it too "poppy", others may not, but either way, the music calls for it. that is probably part of the reason the whole album is so cohesive.)

As for the drum sounds :D, Harry, I would have to say DB's drums on Riot! win. They have a quality to them that I've never heard anywhere else. Listen to Welcome To The Black Parade by My Chemical Romance...same mixer... essentially the same snare sound as BNE. (even though that snare is still AWESOME, you won't find Riot!'s snare on another record.) at least not yet?... :) Nah..... As for the rest of the kit, I do very much like Zac's cymbals on BNE, they are dark and CLA really made them blend well. On the other hand, the bright, shimmery cymbals on Riot! give off more energy while somehow being more subtle in the mix. The toms on both records rule and I really can't pick which I think are best. I guess it depends on whether you like up close sounding drums or more distant ones. /rant

    Anywayz, Riot! rocks. :)

Nah, you can hear the drum samples of David Bendeth's stuff on other Bendeth produced records, so sorry to bust your balls.

I don't mean to say you can hear that exact same SNARE SOUND, but the qualities of the snare samples are definitely present in other Bendeth stuff.

I find the overheads in Riot! perhaps a tiny bit too bright for my tastes, but I'd rather have audible overheads rather than like in Nickelback's "Dark Horse" record where they are really hard to hear, even on studio monitors.

But I do definitely totally agree on this point "but I do think the production definitely plays a role (like a catalyst?) in the music and how people listen to it. (obvious or not) "

It's unfortunate a lot of the younger generation take great production for granted.

Yes of course, the music is obviously the most important element, but David Bendeth, Rob Cavallo, Chris Lord-Alge and all those other guys that were behind the production of the last two Paramore records (I'd say the first one too, but the production of the first record doesn't really stand up to Riot! and BNE for sheer size and depth) are JUST as important to the sound of the record as the musicians are.

It probably doesn't interest most people, which is a huge shame IMO, but whenever I buy a well produced CD, I love to look in the credits to find out who did the engineering, the mixing and the mastering and production, because those processes are such an integral part of how a record sounds.

  9. There's one at the bottom of every page (in between contact us and archive) but it's considerably impractical.

You pointing it out just then made me actually realize that link existed.

Been at this forum nearly a year, and I seriously had no idea there was a link to the homepage lol

  10. I can't say I can go back in my mind to "all those years ago when I first heard the album", cos well, I wasn't even aware of who Paramore were until last year.

I first heard Decode in May last year, but then the month after I started to regularly hang out with this girl who was kinda into the band.

She had lent me this burnt CD which had various Paramore songs which had Decoy on it and then just various songs from AWKIF and Riot!.

At this stage, I was still kinda embarrassed for liking and listening to Paramore.

I don't come from a pop punk/pop rock listening background at all to be

honest. I was pretty much a metalhead through my entire teen years (but about halfway through, I had branched out a little to post hardcore stuff like At the Drive, Refused, and some other punk stuff like The Living End) and at heart, I still am a metalhead really.

As you can imagine, I had (still have) many metalhead friends, so I just made it in my best efforts to not let them find out I was listening to Paramore........every single day.

I then learnt how to play Fences and then CrushCrushCrush (both rhythm and lead parts haha) on guitar towards the end of June last year and since then I've played those song WAYYYYY too many times on guitar lol.

Probably about 3 months later, I then learnt Let the Flames Begin on guitar (the lead and rhythm parts because I had too much time on my hands).

Eventually, I did end up hearing the whole album.

I still think the overall song consistency doesn't quite make for a 10/10 album for me. I'd say 8.5/10 is what I'd give Riot!

I'm still always a tad unsure about Hallelujah, When It Rains, We are Broken and Miracle, but every other song I really love.

If I had to pick one favorite song off the album, it's Let The Flames Begin.

It has this cool aggressive quality about it and it's strangely somehow kinda metal in a way, which I think is really awesome (it's probably the double kick drums towards the end haha).

And from watching the Final Riot! DVD and seeing the song live, I have no doubt it's the band's best and most intense live song.

I'll probably get ragged on for saying this, but I literally cried when I saw Let the Flames Begin live when Paramore toured Australia. It was just fucking intense and almost surreal.

Another aspect of the album that really captured my attention was the production, which I constantly use as a reference guide for when I'm mixing my own stuff.

Vocal production is just gorgeous. The places where the harmonies were put are just so well chosen and Hayley's voice is extremely clear and present without ever being harsh.

The guitar sounds, particularly on the songs where it sounds like they used Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifiers, is just immense and the way it blends with the bass guitar, yet has amazing separation is just amazing.

The drums too, are just intense. They make you just sit up and take notice of them. Sampled to shit and back, I don't care, because David Bendeth really raised the bar for drum sounds in rock music with Riot! to a new level. I'm still on the fence as to whether the drums on Brand New Eyes are better or not, maybe about equal.

The snare and kick drums in Riot! are still some of the most massive sounding ones I've heard in rock music in general, which is no easy feat.

  11. sorry for double posting, but fixed at zero will be streamed on rtheir myspace on tuesday!!!!!1

Think I'd just rather wait for the CD than have to stomach Myspace 96kbps MP3 quality puke.gif

  12. Honestly I was never aware there was a site homepage for like, the first 4 months I was a member of this forum lol.

I just googled "Paramore forum" and this came up, and I registered haha. And even then, I barely ever looked at it.

And yeah, I don't think I've checked the homepage for several months now. Pretty sure the last time I did was in February around the time Paramore was touring Australia.

I like Paramore, but I'm not really one of those super obsessed fans either who needs/wants to know all the news about them all the time, so it just doesn't really interest me to check it really.
