One doesn't have to be a fan to discuss Twilight. I'm equally entitled to discuss my dislike of it, as you are to discuss your love of it. If you want to discuss it purely with other fans, go to a Twilight message board, and you can scream and giggle about that "vampire" actor all you like. Not my problem if the internetz frustrates you, perhaps you should put it down and step away from the keyboard, until you can accept that not everyone has the same opinions as you, then perhaps you'll find yourself calmer and less frustrated.

Actually, the thread was asking if anyone's read an article on the release date of one of the books. Says nowhere that the thread is soley for fans. Not even a "Does anyone else like it?".

Heh, just about everyone who knows who the Emperor is, knows how it ends. It's interesting to read how it came to that end, though. Well worth reading! The Horus Heresy is more or less the story of 40k.

You should read it, man. It's interesting to read about things like the Luna Wolves/The Sons of Horus before they were Chaos, and it goes into a lot more detail about how the Dark Angels were divided during the heresy than their codex does. It's kewl reading about Horus and Abaddon whilst they were still loyal to the Imperium, too. Though, Loken dies, I'm not that far yet, but I know he does. It sucks, he was badass.

It pretty much tells the story of the birth of Chaos, and the traitor legions. Set about 10,000 years before 40k, it follows Horus' rise to power, and his descent into Chaos, taking several of the Space Marine legions with him. There's about 8 books so far, all written by different Black Library authors, I've read three of them. It should finish in the battle between the Emperor God and Horus, resulting in Horus and Sanguinius' death and the Emperor being wounded and put in the Golden Throne, where he's worshipped for the next 10,000 years by the Imperium. Oh, yeah, and Ezekyle Abaddon taking Horus' armour and becoming Abaddon the Despoiler. The plural of codex is codecies, not codexes.

The Horus Heresy series is only about 2/3 years old, and it's still being written.

Still haven't had the chance to read any of Palahnuik stuff, but I've wanted to for a while. It's going to have to wait until I've finished reading the Horus Heresy series, and then the Dark Elf Trilogy, though. I've wanted to read them for a lot longer.

He's primerily a horror author. He's not going to sugar-coat his books like Myers does. As for his books being shit, the American National Book Foundation would have to disagree, else they wouldn't've awarded him the Medal of Distinguished Contribution to American Letters. The Shining? Must be shit, I mean, Jack Nicholson only agrees to act in shit films. The Running Man? Again, why would Schwarzenegger star in a good film, based off of a good book? That'd just be stupid. IT? Pet Sematary? Desperation? Kujo? I could go on.

I'm pretty sure the Jonas Brothers must've topped a sales chart at one stage, but that doesn't mean they're any good at what they do. Just like the Jonas Brothers, Twilight was well marketed with ad campaigns, which is usually what causes anything to top sales charts. Whether music, books, DVDs, games etc. It's more about image in the public's eye than it is about the quality of the medium. There's not as much correlation between sales charts and the quality of work as the people that stand to profit would have you believe. Being as renowned as he is in literature, and having achieved as much as he has in that field and even teaching it at a university level, I believe his opinions on other works in the same field to be accurate enough.

It's kinda like The Jonas Brothers, but in book form. Who's to say that the Jonas Brothers won't go on to make music in different genres, and start to produce good music? King isn't saying she's not successful, he's saying "She’s not very good".

It's popular because of it's mass appeal to pre-pubescent girls.
