  1. So far, I've listened to the intro and Decode, because I have been working on an arrangement of them myself, and I have to say, you did those two better than I will ever do! Intro: -The flourished chords at the beginning were a nice touch. It gave the beginning such a haunting atmosphere. -Nicely mixed hands! The accompaniment was very well blended with the melody. Much fuller sound than the original! -I think the releases of the sustain pedals were a bit abrupt at times...I know what it's like to play with a keyboard, but still. A bit more use of the sustain would not have bothered me at all, even if it had meant a bit muffled sound. Decode: -Again, the intro was made much bigger with your mixing of hands -Absolutely beautiful use of the left hand throughout the piece! It sounded more of a piano piece rather than a transcription of guitar parts for the piano. Some nicely arpeggiated stuff in there, as well as good variation of the chords. -Still some issues with the sustain pedal, and I think you know what I'm talking about so no need to get deeper here... -A bit melancholic mood through the piece...You could've made something much more bombastic out of the final chorus. But hey, this is a matter of taste! -Were you in a rush for any of these two? Because I think I spotted a few mistakes on both of these... Anyway, I don't agree with your interpretation of Decode whole-heartedly but I understand that this is your vision and not mine, so I won't get into every little part that I would've done differently. Well done, and I will get back to you with the rest of the songs as soon as I have time to listen to them. Alright, now I noticed that you have at least 3, if not 4 hands... It definitely adds to the song itself, but I also think that it takes away from the magic of piano (you know, 2 hands?) I agree that you can add a lot of beautiful stuff in there by adding additional layers of piano, but I was somewhat disappointed to notice that it wasn't just "a guy playing piano" -sort of recording. But again, create music that you enjoy, and after that something everyone else enjoys. PS: The intro just screams for some orchestral instruments, so does it bother you if I experiment a bit with your piano piece? I might do the piano parts myself later, but your version is played much better than I can ever play, so it's a good launching pad.
  2. Could have been. But I kept thinking "maybe the nose will grow by itself and not because of lying". Yeah, way to crash the party. No need to thank me!
  3. Kings Of Convenience http://www.myspace.com/kingsofconvenience Terrific acoustic guitar stuff and beautiful vocal harmonies by two male singers. CHECK.THEM.OUT.
  4. My gosh, what a performance! Thanks for ripping it. Sadly, I'm still looking for my dream version of my heart. It would be this performance with a keyboard and that bit in the middle where the whole band stops, the keyboard fades back in and then the band comes in with Josh screaming. *shivers* There are versions with all that, but then there isn't that ridiculously high note from Hayley, which in my opinion crowns the whole song. Was this ending done only at one specific tour or what? Such a shame BTW that they are capable of doing such majestic songs like this, but only because they have added more stuff to it after recording the song! Their studio albums scream for stuff like this.
  5. I wish I had brought my guitar with me to my parents' house. My fingers are constantly telling me that they need something to play and I'm the one that has to somehow calm them down, damnit! I try to keep them busy with posting here, but so far, it's not working! A bit emotional today, are we? Don't worry! Internet is all social interaction you need (), and you are definitely not retarded in that sense.
  6. yes. YES. I agree that he is an amazing drummer! Zac was the first drummer that ever stuck out of the music for me, so I guess he is doing something better than most. Hard to tell because I don't really know much about drumming! And their recent stuff shows that he is still improving leaps and bounds. Songs like Decode have really interesting drumming that are fun to listen on their own, and all those subtle tricks, syncopation etc just put a wide smile on my face as an old prog freak. I hope the new album expands their sound a bit, leaving room for more experimental drumming, but right now, he is doing an awesome work within the framework of mainstream rock, so I'm happy either way.
  7. Well that is the epic win of the week right there! Maybe I will name my keyboard Heimlich the caterpillar now...

    Hi everyone!

Such a warm welcome from total strangers... Definitely sets this place apart from a few others... Thank youx3 all!
  9. Urgh, definitely not something I'd like to do. Not that I'm scared of needles or the pain! They are just not very comfortable to wear, at least not in my profession. And the possibility of infection... no thanks! After walking out of the piercing parlor, the first thing I'd probably do is I would get the piercing stuck on my clothes or whatever and accidentally rip my skin off. I don't think they are that pretty, either. I believe Hayley had her piercing removed? I didn't think it suited her anyway.
  10. Hah, that's pretty much what I thought! I kept thinking "yes, I can compare the skull to her hands, but I still can't make out the actual size if she is going to push it through my monitor" Just makes my head go So you name your guitars with male names, too? Okay, it's pretty normal for you I guess but imagine how I show my guitars to my friends: "This one here is Gary and this is John" And then their faces turn as they start making mental notes of possible escape routes. I like naming them after my guitar idols, but I guess there's a good dose of finnish humor mixed in there as well.

    Hi everyone!

Okay, after I heard That's What You Get for the 34563456#&(%(/%&79679th time in just a few weeks, I was ready to rip my ears off. This was, I don't know, 2 years ago? Then, a couple of months ago, this song came on the radio. I was doing something else at the same time, but as soon as the chorus hit, I was like Rarely the vocalist catches my attention first as I am more of a guitar player, but this girl had something about her voice that made my ears just soak it all in and ask for more. I thought the band was Within Temptation or Evanescence or something like that, and I knew I had to get their albums RIGHT AWAY. But then the radio host went "And that was Paramore with their new single "Decode" ... ... ... Let's stop there and explore my musical background a bit. Like I said, I play electric guitar, been playing for about 4 years now, and about 1,5 years ago I started taking lessons on classical guitar and piano as well. I'm ashamed to say that I thought I was pretty open minded when it came to music, seeing how I listened to a vast collection of different artists from various genres, but I admit, I had a deep prejudice against bands like Paramore from the mainstream pop/punk/rock/ scene or whatever you want to call it. The most prominent genres in my music collection are: Progressive rock Progressive metal Death Metal Hardcore Classical piano music (chopin, handel...) Classical guitar music Classic Rock ... ... ... I could feel the spiteful laugh of the world tingling in my ears. I had just fallen in love with a band I used to hate with a passion. I got the album RIOT! and from the first notes onwards I knew this was a new cornerstone in my musical evolution. I got the earlier album as well and watched some youtube videos and such, and I had to admit: I had seriously underestimated them! Their catalogue included compositions so ingenious that it surpassed many of my favourite bands by far! I knew I was going to get crap from my friends for liking this band, but I couldn't have cared less. . *inhales* Okay, lets take a look at some facts about myself, before I feel the urge to praise the band again. Name: Pekka Gender: Male Age: 20 Country: Finland Occupation: Professional soldier in the finnish army Hobbies: Classical/Electric guitar, piano Right now, I'm pondering over whether I should post my playing in youtube or not. I feel like it could do wonders for me (I'd actually sit down and learn complete songs!) Back me out here! Okay, I think maybe two guys/girls will actually continue reading after the first paragraph, but I enjoy writing just for the sake of it, so bear with me, pf.com server! I haven't really taken look at the discussions here, so it remains to be seen how actively I will take part in those. But again, hi, and please don't look at me like that! I'm pretty normal once the initial shock settles.
