Haha, yeah

ive got a week and 6 days to practise more in mine,

but for now, ive got the brett manning Singing Success CD's.

nan bought them for me :D

well happy like!

so im using that to build up my strength in singing

My old music teacher was abolutely rubbish! i was like, psshhh! screw you dude!

tried to make me sing classical, and thats just not my thing.

so i quit. :) as you do, lol

pssh.

me + classical = :nono:

yeah mate i did the same! i switched to a different teacher a few months ago :] best thing i've ever done.. unfortunately i still have to sing classical stuff for choir at school but it's my choice what i sing otherwise.

let me know if the singing success stuff is any good! i really want to try it but it's pretty pricey ;-)

are you in year 10 or 11? if you're in year 10, let me say that the best way to go for your final composition would be from the 'songs from musicals' area, since you have to perform something from one of the areas you composed from for your solo, and this is by far the easiest if you don't sing classical stuff.

if you have trouble with lyrics let me know - they're my strength since i will be studying english as level next year ;-)

it's just a different course module. I agree with this. For your other composition (although you don't have to think about this for a while) i suggest using experimental, as long as you tick off all the right boxes, you can't go wrong as there aren't any harmonies/melodies you need to get right, just rhythms. Good stuff !

also, you have the same birthday as my friend, minus a year

oh, you learn something new everyday ;)

this year, you'll study 4 different units (and do practise compositions this year, no final ones):

repetition and contrast in western classical music 1600 - 1899

- ground Bass

- variations

- rondo

- ternary form

new directions in western classical music 1900 - present

- serialism

- minimalism

- experimental music

- electronic music

popular song in context

- 12 bar blues

- reggae

- club dance remix

- songs from musicals and britpop

rhythms, scales and modes in music from around the world

- gamelan music

- indian raga

- african drumming

- music which draws together two or more cultures e.g. bhangra or folk rock

in year 11, you will compose two pieces for final submission. you will also perform one solo piece, and one piece in an ensemble. your solo piece must be from the same area of study as one of your compositions! e.g. if one composition is a rondo (area of study 1) and one is a song from a musical (area of study 3) then you can perform a musical song.

just remember to compose one song from area of study 3, as this is the easiest to perform from when it comes to singing.

oh and what's your msn sn? just so i know who to add :)

hahaha yeah drama was bottom of mine :/ maybe above food tech..

people think music's the bum subject where you pass just by turning up but it bloody well ain't :-x

When I was in year 7 I was "I'm soo taking music as a GCSE" But then by year 9 I just couldn't wait to get rid of it like drama and history, and I still don't regret it.

My food tech teacher was trying to bribe me into taking food tech on the options evening last year. Didn't work though, because I picked textiles.

i learnt never to lie on your side, and lift you leg up to get off the sofa,

cos you WILL get a freakin HUGE cramp in your leg.

HAHA

oh god, dont get me started with hockey.

when i was in year 7, we were playing hockey on the courts,

and i was aweful at it, and this girl was standing behind me.. and you can guess what happened to her. xD

yupp, i hit her round the head with the stick

LOL I'm scared of the hockey puck coming towards me, but once I have it, I couldn't give two hoots where I go with it :) sometimess I just hit it across the court and theres always one guy who comes after me, but if I hit it he has to jump to avoid it going into his feet. and he normally yelps.

The first time he did that I cried laughing, the trainee told me to get off the court to control myself. lol

wow i'm evil.
