Take the song 'Emergency' for example: A girl breaks up with her boyfriend over something stupid. The love is dead. The love deserved to be there, in the technical sense to be 'alive' Thus the lyric: I've seen love die way too many times, when it deserved to be alive Again, the boy sees the girl crying, she is depressed, alone, hurt. If you exaggerated the feeling, you could use the word 'dead' to express that the girl is hurt. It explains that love is not how it used to be, it's 'dead' and it shouldn't be. It should be alive, it should be there. Not taken for granted!
