  1. I really like this one too: One of my favorite bands is Reel Big Fish, Paramore is also one of my favorite bands. Therefore HAYLEY IS TOTALLY AWESOME FOR WEARING THIS SHIRT. I posted it before, but I have this same exact shirt, of course mine is a medium, her is probably like extra small or youth large. But yeah, she should wear this on stage.
  2. Ok so there's gotta be at least someone on this board other than myself that likes them! They were the very first ska-punk band I listened to and pretty much are the reason why I got into ska and punk music. The first concert I went to was back in 1996 when ska was all the rage and I skanked for the first time ever I was 12 at the time. They pretty much changed my life!!! All though Im not too happy with their last album. I didn't like the fact that the horns were hardly on the album and it was mostly a pop-punk album. But after a while I understood why they did it. They wanted to show that they weren't one-sided and could play well in other genre's besides ska-punk. But Im going to see them with Reel Big Fish in one week, IM SO EXCITED. This is going to be the show to end all shows! My favorite song would have to be: How's My Driving Doug Hastings Johnny Quest Think's We're Sellouts The Science of Selling Yourself Short Liquor Store Look What I Happened All My Best Friends Are Metalheads
  3. well I just got cut my hair, it was pretty long for a while, think Im gonna keep it this way. I tool these pics in my "studio" aka a small part of my garage that I set up with a crappy light: and this one I took in my room in you can see my Paramore poster in the background, my head is covering the Mad Caddies poster I stole from the venue.
  4. well my dont really accuse my of liking paramore because of Hayley. But every now and then, especially when I go to shows they say things like "going to see your girlfriend". It's not really annoying since they don't do often and I know that they are just joking around, so I dont really get mad when they say things like that. Since I listen to certain bands that they concider "gay" or stuff like that they will give me crap for it, saying Im gay when Im not. Like when I if I say "Hayley is pretty hot" they'll reply "Whatever you know you want the drummer instead". That kinda of stuff gets to me sometimes, but they are good enough friends to know when I've had enough and they'll stop when they know Im starting to get mad/annoyed. Im just get mad at them sometimes cause they wont give new bands a chance, even if they are in the genre of music they like, but that's another story/topic.
  5. I play trumpet. I played it in junior high and high school. I almost joined the Army band, but at the time there were no available positions for it (until like 4 months after I signed up to be in supply, I was pretty pissed about that). But instead while I was in the Army I joined a local ska-punk band (our style was similar to Less Than Jake, Mu330 and Mustard Plug). We had pretty decent success as a local band, but I quit the band about 4 months before I go out the Army because 1. I was moving back to Phoenix and 2. the band wanted to start touring alot more, but I was kinda stopping them cause of I couldn't take alot of time off. But I found out like 4 months after I moved back to Phoenix, they had some problems with each other and broke up. But I really haven't played my trumpet for almost 2 years now. Im thinking about selling it actually.
  6. yeah I read the same blog, and found that interesting. remember if you like Blessthefall, just remember they came from PHOENIX,AZ (sorry Im just proud of my hometown and our music scene:) )
  7. I was going to do that too, cause I was bored in class . But it wasnt working right so I got pissed and decided to actually do my project:) But yeah this was cool, I think I might try to do this with Less Than Jake. Thanks for posting
  8. I never got to meet her though, I had my cousin get her autogrpah for me. I was in the Army for most of the time she played with the Bandits, but I was able to take leave when my family go tickets to the games. Then when i got out they never stopped in Arizona. But I watched alot of the games on TV. Anyway this was the last article about her, when she played for Chicago: http://www.chicagobandits.com/news/index.html?article_id=186 But yeah and I forgot I had one more person's autograph, I have Steve Nash's autograph too, but I bought it at one of those sporting stores in the mall. It's an 8X10 it cost me like $50, but Nash is my favorite Suns player, so it was worth it. I hope I get to meet him someday.
  9. I have these people's autographs: Paramore (Hayley, Josh, Jeremy and Zac) Suburban Legends (all current members: Vince, Brian K, Brian R, Derek, Mikey, Luis and past members: Dallas-RIP:(, Aaron, Brian M, Tim and Phil)- I still need 6 more autogrphahs to have all the members though, but I doubt I'll have them, one of them is Jimmy Sullivan aka The Rev from Avenged Sevenfold Seth Green New Found Glory (just Ian and Steve) Less Than Jake (just Roger, JR and Buddy, I really need Chris and Vinnie's) Ashley Tisdale (didn't meet her, I won it in a contest) Halifax (all current members) Greeley Estates (current members: Ryan, Brandon, Brian, past members: Dallas and Brad still need to get the 2 new members signatures) A Change of Pace (all current members except for Dan) Big D & The Kids Table (all members of the current line-up) Charles Barkley Randy Johnson Luis Gonalez Then entire University of Arizona Wildcats 1988 Final Four basketball team Chuck Daily (former head coach of the New Jersey Nets, NBA Legend) Jennie Finch (former pitcher of the University of Arizona and currently plays for Chicago Bandits, National Pro Fastpitch softball, my cousin played for them for 2 seasons) Thurman Thomas (former Buffalo Bills player, NFL Legend) Thomas Mikal Ford (played Tommy on the TV show Martin) Corey Patterson (plays for the Baltimore Orioles and is my cousin's boyfriend same cousin that played for Chicago Bandits) and that's all I have so far.
  10. Ok so back in 2005 I was stationed out in Fort Bliss in El Paso,TX while I was in the Army. I had some friends that lived in Las Cruces, NM. I met up with them in Cruces and I rode with them to Albuquerque to go see Senses Fail at the Sunshine Theater (with Emanuel, A Change of Pace and local band Someday). Anyway after the concert we went to this restaurant all of them were telling me about since this was the first time I had ever been there. It wasn't too far from the Sunshine Theater and I think it was might have had a stair way that went down at the entrance of the Building. It was kinda small but big. The thing I remember most were the cinnamon buns and the oragne juice. But it wasn't like regular orange juice, it was kinda creamy and really sweet. The only think is, is that I cant remember the name. Ive been trying to remember for a while. So I know my description is that good, but if anyone knows what that live in Albuquerque or has been there somehow knows the place I'm talking about, please let me know. Im going back there in a couple of months (its going to be a stop on our road trip) and I would really like to stop there and take my friends (the ones from Phoenix) to that place. But yeah, it was awesome and nice environment (I think the walls were like wood, almost kinda like a western setting). But it was really good and I think my buddy said that it was like open 24 hours. thank you peace out
  11. I was gonna out Zac's head on Captain Planet, but I didnt like the way it came out. So I made in like 5 minutes:
  12. I would love to hear her sing the girl parts in She Has a Girlfriend Now with Aaron Barrett of Reel Big Fish. That would be awesome, Im pretty sure she's a fan of them since Ive seen her wear their shirt (I have the same one she does), but if I ever saw her singing with Aaron Barrett at a RBF concert, I would probably lose it. It would be like a "hero" overload (cause Scotty K of RBF is also one of my heroes). So Id pretty much go into shock
  13. Well as you know many bands have risen from Phoenix,AZ latley, here's some that I think deserve the same spotlight: Captain Squeegee & The Soapsuds (they'll blow your mind) Finding Apathy (my friend Bryce plass bass in the band, played on the Ernie Ball Stage @ Warped)
  14. I would have to say, it really depends on the venue. I really dont like arena or large outdoor pavilions. I prefer the large-small venues (like House of Blues, Marquee Theater for those who live in Phoenix,AZ and such). Even if you have floor tickets at the arena shows, for me I dont get that same feeling. The show is not as intimate or you dont feel as close to the band as if it was at a smaller show. But since it's only a rumor, Im not gonna stress about it, I'll worry about if it actually does happen. As for me seeing them at an arena show, it would depend on my financial situation, my job, school and all sorts of other thing, that frankly I dont really want to think about right now However, if Paramore's fan base gets to the point to where they have to play at larger venues to meet demand. I really hope they go as far out as the band Social Distortion does, these guys bring in alot of people. But what I like about them is that (at least here in Phoenix), they could easily play at a really big venue, but instead they play at a smaller venue and play 2 shows. Now the show both shows do end up selling out, but not as fast if it were only 1 show. I usually end up seeing Social D, when they do this. Same thing with Flogging Molly on St. Patty's Day, they could easily play at an arena, but instead they always add a second day at the smaller venue (every year they play on St. Patty's Day here in Phoenix). Another thing, for me as much as I love Paramore, if they did play an arena show and I was not able to get floor tickets, I would not pay to see them from the seated area or even worse the upperdeck. To me, it's not worth going if you can't pump around, have a good time. I want to be able to feel like Im singing along with the band instead of at the band. But that's just me. (forgive me if, this doesnt make any sense to you, cause I wrote this down as I was thinking about it and Im too lazy to go back and edit the typos or the sentences that do not make any sense:) )
  15. Yeah in my Photoshop class last night, it put Hayley singing as part of a big collage I did. When I turned it in my teacher was like is that girl singing into a carrot? I started laughing cause like 5 mintues before I was looking at this topic in the forums. But yeah the singer from the Mad Caddies uses the same mic! I know cause he gave it to me, cause he dented it during the last song they played (it was pretty cool, he even stuck a Caddies sticker on it right before he handed it to me, I was up against the stage)
  16. Well I know this is kinda old news, but I just found this out a couple of days ago. Drummer/lyricist of Less Than Jake and co-founder of Fueled By Ramen, Vinnie Fiorello, left the label. But here's what Vinnie wrote in his blog, stating his reasons for leaving the lablel: Let me just go ahead and pull the band aid off really quickly to this, Months ago I decided to leave FUELED BY RAMEN, the record company that I had helped build up for the last 10 years. A few weeks ago everything was finalized so I figured since the new year is coming up quick and new starts are coming up quicker this is a perfect time to say a few last things. I remember there was a time when I drove all night, behind the wheel of our tour van, I just had gotten the mixes to THE IMPOSSIBLES first record and I thought it was amazing. I fell in love with it, I listened to it for hours and hours, over and over on the drive. Words couldn't and still can't describe how excited I was to have a chance at releasing that record. In Chicago I had gotten a demo tape of 3 songs from ANIMAL CHIN, I literally knew after listening to those songs once that I wanted to release anything they ever recorded. Hell the same exact thing happened when I was in Australia and got a BLUELINE MEDIC demo passed to me and thought they were channeling the ghost of JAWBREAKER. That's how good it was. You know the feeling when a band becomes your favorite band? The song or the experience while listening to the songs that stays with you? Well now imagine how it feels to be able to put out your favorite bands record. Not just once but time after time. When the label first started I sat on the side of the stage in Jacksonville, Florida and watched ANN BERETTA play songs that would become a CD I would release later, I sang every song with them on the side of the stage, I sang every lyric. I believed every word of it. Listening to GYM CLASS HEROES when there was no loops or drum machine, it was guys playing this amazing music, and travis telling stories over it. I was blown away with the lyrics and the melody. I was on the outskirts of Boston when I listened to it through headphones, I knew right then Fueled By Ramen had to release it, there was no business planned behind it, there was no marketing plan, this was me loving a band, it was blind faith that I just loved the music and hoped other people would also. It was me walking around the parking lot of the hotel again and again playing it on repeat. Being able to put out music from THE PIETASTERS, TEEN IDOLS, DISCOUNT, BIG WIG, JIMMY EAT WORLD, PUNCHLINE, KANE HODDER, and THE STEREO were easy descisions to make simply because I was fans of the bands already,I had all the old records, I had shared stages with some of them, some I had been friends with for years, those bands at different times were the soundtrack and background music to amazing parts of my life. Watching FALLOUTBOY, and THE ACADEMY IS… grow from pratice spaces to playing over crowded shows filled with people that know every word to every single song makes me proud to have been involved, even if it was for a small piece and for a brief time. My point from all this? Basically the same reason I started the label is ultimately the same reason why I left Fueled By Ramen, and that is passion for the music. I didn't feel the same way for some of the bands we had talked about signing in the future or the direction that the label was taking. I always prided myself on the thought of a label being equal parts about creativity and business but months back I felt like music was more about being famous then the actual songs themselves, it felt like style was outwieghing substance. At one point I wasn't feeling the same passion for the direction the label was headed. So faced with staying around and it just being "business as usual" or trying to steer an iceberg in the way I wanted the direction of the label to go. I decided that it was time for me to step aside and let the label grow with its natural progression. Music has always been the one thing I count on, the very first thing and last thing I do every day and I want to feel that way until the day I die. I want to love the music that I'm involved with. I want it to become my favorite bands. You know, there's a point when things have to be good on the insides, my insides and my head wanted to do something different. I have an incedible amount of respect for everyone that worked day in and day out for the label and continues to do so as I type this. To everyone that worked countless hours because of passion for the bands, the label and music I have to thank you for the inspiration to move on in my own direction. I've made friends and made family working through fueled by ramen over the years I hope the best for everyone in the future -The reason I got into alot of bands on the label was because it was started by Vinnie. Less Than Jake was the band that got me into the music scene and was the reason why I loved music. But I understand his reasons, Im just glad it was on good terms. Even though he is not with the FBR anymore Im still going to continue to support them and the new bands they sign in the future. oh and just an FYI, Less Than Jake is not part of Fueled By Ramen, Sire or Warner Brothers Records anymore. I guess Sire/Warner dropped them from the roster. They currently have no label. But they really dont need one, since their fan base is pretty big and the band they are legends anyway. Look at Reel Big Fish, they were dropped from Jive Records and they are still doing great. Well I wonder if they'll continue with out a label like RBF or sign on to a new one.
  17. Id say Paramore (part of the reason why I joined this board) and i hate to say it....... World of Warcraft. For almost 2 years, I have been avoiding it. My friends kept telling me to get it. I said no countless times. So then one day I come to my room (I live in a 3 bedroom condo, with 2 of my friends) and I see the game box on my bed with a sticky note that said "install it NOW, or else..". That was pretty much it, they want me to level up in the game so I can play with them (since they have been playing for a long time). I cant belive they sucked me into that game, peer presure I tell ya!
  18. I like these 2 (mainly because I took them): I almost didnt get this one, cause I kinda froze when she looked right at me. I also like this one too but it's because I have the same shirt. But mine's like a medium, her's in probably like a small or youth large. Oh, and just in case you are wondering, the dude Im in the pic with is Corey Patterson, he plays for the Baltimore Oriels. He's my cousin's boyfriend, I get free tickets when they come play in against the Diamondbacks in Phoenix.
  19. yeah I''ll probably be driving down there for this. Tucson is only and hour and a half away from Phoenix. I was born in Tucson and most of my family lives there. None of my friends like Paramore or any of the bands, so I'll most likely drive dowm by myself, I dont mind though. I did it for Reel Big Fish and Catch 22, so Paramore wont be any different. I just hope I dont get a flat tire, like I did in January driving back to Phoenix. Just in case anyone's wondering, the stages will be set in the outfield towards the back and the field will be the GA area. Tickets were only 20 bucks, but you had to buy them on Saturday of last week at Catalina Mart locations (Ive been back and fourth to Tucson almost my whole life, and never heard of Catalina Mart). So anyone plan on going, its gonna be 30 bucks. If you are like me and have to buy them online, it's 30 with a service charge (but Im going to see if my dad will buy me a ticket, cause he lives in Tucson). Good thing about TEP is that my grandma lives across the street, so I'll probably stay the night there and drive home the next day. But I might hang around the entire weekend and see my brother, dad and my cousin.
  20. Here's mine: Paramore (3) Suburban Legends (August 1st will be 10) Reel Big Fish (August 4th will be 12) Less Than Jake (August 4th will be 11) The Mighty Mighty Bosstones (3) NoFX (5) The Vandals (2) Mustard Plug (2) Greeley Estates (5) Senses Fail (4) Fall Out Boy (2 before the arena shows) New Found Glory (2) Big D And The Kids Table (2) Catch 22 (2) Westbound Train (2) The Toasters (Sept 9th will be 4) The Aquabats (2) The Used Red Jumpsuit Apparatus Scary Kids Scarring Kids (4) The Early November (2) Guttermouth (3) Mad Caddies (3) The Bouncing Souls (2) Cute Is What We Aim For (2) Streetlight Manifesto (on August 4th will 2) The Know How (2) Social Distortion (2) A Change of Pace (5) My American Heart (2) The Voodoo Glowskulls (2) Dropkick Murphys (2) Flogging Molly (2) Never Heard Of It Bowling For Soup American Hi Fi MC Lars (2) Patent Pending (on August 1st will be 2) Sugarcult Halifax (3) Authority Zero (5) Underoath Buck O Nine Starpool (on August 1st will be 2) Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer (on August 1st will be 2) Whole Wheat Bread (2) Hawthorne Heights Me First & The Gimmie Gimmies From Fist To Last No Use For A Name Street Dogs Eyes Set To Kill (2) Blessthefall (4) Jeffries Fan Club (3) River City Rebels (2) A Thorn For Every Heart Over It All American Rejects (at small club in 2003) Goldfinger Saosin Save Ferris Green Day Blink 182 Aerosmith The Casualties Ant-Flag (2) The Unseen (2) Four Letter Lie Tsunami Bomb Bad Religion The Slackers (2) Dead Poetic Rancid (2) The Offspring Rise Against Chris Murray Five Iron Frenzy The O.C Supertones Dan Potthast Go Jimmy Go (2) RX Bandits (3) I Voted For Kodos (2) Gym Class Heroes (2) The Pietasters (on September 9th will be 2) The Suicide Machines Pennywise The Forces Of Evil (Aaron Barrett of Reel Big Fish's side project) Left Alone (possibly 2 in September) I think that just about does it. Man did this ever bring back memories, I only included band that I wanted to see or enjoyed, I could have listed more, but at alot of the show I did want to see EVERY band that played. I didnt include the band or the times Ive seen bands on The Warped Tour (dear God, if I did my list would have been twice as long). SO you can see where alot of my money goes too. Um also the reason why Ive seen alot of bands is because Im 23 and Ive been going to shows since I was 12 (been to every Warped Tour from 1998-2007, except for 2002 I was in Army Basic Training). Ive also seen shows in other states like, Texas, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado and California. Plus the reason why Ive seen Greeley Estates, Scarry Kids Scarring Kids, A Change of Pace, Blessthefall and Authority Zero so many times, is because they are all from Phoenix,AZ and they play alot of home shows and they play alot of show together as well.
  21. Well top 3, I'd say: Paramore (obviously) Save Ferris (ska band from "back in the day" aka late 90's) Eyes Set To Kill (Phoenix,AZ http://www.myspace.com/eyessettokilll) There are a couple more that I like, but those are probably my favorite. But Eyes Set To Kill may fall off the list, now that Lyndsay left the band. Alexia took over as the lead vocalist, but Im not sure if she can replace Lyndsay, but I havent seem them since Lynds left the band, so I guess I'll have to wait until I see them again.
  22. marcometer

    im awesome!

and Im new here! uhh just a little bit 'bout me. Ive been a Paramore fan since 2005 (first time I saw them, while they were on tour with My American Heart). In case you didnt see my avatar, Im a ska kid and proud of it, we're a rare breed, but always excepting new ones. Im an designer/artist, Im going to school for Visual Communications (graphic design, logo design, Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark, webpage desgin, storyboards, etc.) at Collins College in Phoenix,AZ. I served 3 years in the U.S Army (2002-2005) and Im in the in-active reserve which means Im a full civilian with NO military obligations what so ever, but can be called back to active duty or reserve until 2010 (but I like being a civilian now, so lets just hope that doesnt happen). Well thats about it!
  23. Anyone listen to ska? Ska was the very first genre of music I got into. I was about 11 in 1995 and I first got into a band called Less Than Jake (for some that don't know, Vinne the drummer, co-founded Fulled By Ramen). Then by 1996 was The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and a year later was Reel Big Fish. After the first time I skanked at a Bosstones show, I was hooked and never looked back. My favorite ska bands are: Suburban Legends Reel Big Fish (Ive seen Hayley wearing RBF shirt in some pics ) Less Than Jake Mustard Plug Big D And The Kids Table The Mighty Mighty Bosstones The Planet Smashers The Toasters Westbound Train Madness The Specials Buck O Nine Catch 22 Streetlight Manifesto Voodoo Glowskulls and Mad Caddies Those are just the top ones, but you name the ska band, chances are I know who they are, even some local ones. But it sucks now cause the genre is considered "dead". Its just not the same, there are hardly and on the Warped Tour now, plus the "big" bands rarley play in large venues (except for LTJ and RBF). Well, I guess I'll just have to wait for the 4th wave, it's comming soon, I know it. On the bright side, Less Than Jake and Reel Big Fish are on a co-headlining tour and bringing along Streetlight Manifesto & Against All Authority. This is pretty much the BIGGEST ska-punk tour since the late 90's. They are comming to my town August 4th and I already declaring it "Show of the Year". Some shows have even sold out, which is good, since I already have my ticket. Plus Reel Big Fish is getting some radio play in California with "Party Down" off their new album Monkeys For Free And Chimps For Nothin'. Anyway just wondering if there are ska kids out there, we're a rare breed. Or at least hoping there are some people out there who at least know how to skank or at least own a ska album. ANYBODY?
  24. This is a pic I drew of Hayley in Adobe Illustrator. First of all, in early May, I couldnt even draw a curved line in this program. But after some practice I got better. I just wish I would have turned in this pic, instead of the piece of junk I turned in for my final project in class: Illustration done by me Reference photo originally taken by Tim Harmon Its also up on the Paramorefans gallery. Just in case you were wondering I go to school for Visual Communications (kinda like graphic design) at Collins College in Tempe,AZ. I dont know what Im drawing next, I just know I got to practice on using gradient mesh. I just finished it last night, I had such a hard time with her lips though. I wanted to have Hayley sign it when I met her at Warped Tour, but her lips werent drawn so I couldnt, plus I didnt want Hayley to see that I drew her with out a mouth:p btw Im new and this is my first post!
