  19. Here are some poems/lyrics I've written, please read and comment, thanks! A Product Of A Rainy California Night Turn on the radio, another melancholy tune I’m sober for now, but that’ll be changing soon As outside the world is drenched, concealing the unwanted and the unseen Watch as your ideals wash away Hey there insomnia It seems there’s some unfinished business at hand I’ve tried to escape you, but tonight I just can’t Because we’re prisoners of our own illusions And I’m chained to this bed As everything we believed in comes pouring down Two picture perfect lovers Gloved hands clasped together As quickly as they appear they fade away And I’ve opened a window to let in the rain In due time this paper will be soaked but the meaning won’t have changed No, as the ink bleeds the words remain the same Hey there insomnia It seems there’s some unfinished business at hand I’ve tried to escape you, but tonight I just can’t Because we’re prisoners of our own illusions And I’m chained to this bed As everything we believed in comes pouring down Where did our innocence get carried off to? Somewhere in between the swirl of lights it got lost Like the old worn out toys given up to the falling rain Because they no longer matter No, tonight nothing matters Hey there insomnia It seems there’s some unfinished business at hand I’ve tried to escape you, but tonight I just can’t Because we’re prisoners of our own illusions And I’m chained to this bed As everything we believed in comes pouring down Finding Yesterday The wind dies down over your old apartment Carrying with it the last seeds of innocence We're sitting on the steps watching the cars glide over the pavement A common situation- But today something feels different Tonight- We'll find relief in broken bottles And burnt out cigarette buds As I try to push away these preconceived notions And tell myself we're not like the other ones As night consumes the last shreds of sunlight I wonder what this is supposed to feel like It appears that I'm watching myself from a distance Playing back these images in black and white Tonight- We'll find relief in broken bottles And burnt out cigarette buds As I try to push away these preconceived notions And tell myself we're not like the other ones Bursts of passion over like sparks above the ocean I try to sort out these scattered thoughts, but the meaning got lost in the process And as this body hits the sheets and I surrender myself to the darkness I remember those wild flowers crushed on the freeway Heart In The Sand Before it starts it’s already over And we’re left longing for so much more More then the empty thoughts that lead to empty words More then the raindrops that evaporate before they’re fully formed Today I drew a heart in the sand And when the tide rolled in it washed it away Leaving not a single trace to be found How come nothing in this life ever stays? Soon tomorrow will begin and today will be Just a memory not worth remembering When the sun refuses to shine and night sets in The day’s events will be erased as if they never existed Today I drew a heart in the sand And when the tide rolled in it washed it away Leaving not a single trace to be found How come nothing in this life ever stays? We lay in the arms of forever Aware that in a second it will all be gone And the desires we held so important Won’t mean so much, no they don’t mean so much anymore Today I drew a heart in the sand And when the tide rolled in it washed it away Leaving not a single trace to be found How come nothing in this life ever stays? Hope City We cross each other's paths on a gloomy day Two wandering souls who've somehow lost our way We're stopped by the conditions of the failing weather If we're alone we might as well be alone together The falling rain begins to soak the pavement As the tears run down our swollen faces And the poems you've written about imaginary places Begin to come alive as we're drenched down to our laces We find ourselves in the eyes of the unknown As we realize the love the storm has shown And when the sun comes out and showers the sky in a million colors We discover in each other the answers we've always wondered The Words She Said Based on a true story In a little park on a sunny day Two people walk down a narrow chapel hallway They were both so young Two crazy kids in love No one thought they would last very long But there they stood, out to prove the nonbelievers wrong They sealed their vows with a kiss and a ring Neither knowing what the future would bring For years they struggled to get by each day Barely able to get the bills paid But they had their love to get them through At least they thought that was true Then one day he came home from work and found the note And he tearfully read the last words she wrote You’ve touched my life in more ways then I thought a person could You believed in us when no one else would You were by my side when things got rough But sometimes even true love is not enough This world is just so harsh and cold Someday you’ll understand why I had to go Time went on but the pain stayed the same To him it felt like the end had came He tried to put the past behind But the words she said kept going through his mind You’ve touched my life in more ways then I thought a person could You believed in us when no one else would You were by my side even when things got rough But sometimes even true love is not enough This world is just so harsh and cold Someday you’ll understand why I had to go In a little park on a sunny day An old man walks to a forgotten grave He kneels down and drops his head And engraved in stone were the words that read You’ve touched my life in more ways then I thought a person could You believed in us when no one else would You were by my side even when things got rough But sometimes even true love is not enough This world is just so harsh and cold Someday you’ll understand why I had to go
