As far as Canon Powershots go, I have this one and love it:

But if I had waited a few months, this one's a little better and costs as much as mine did when I bought it in June. It also has an HD Movie Mode:

Don't forget:

Panasonic has 12x OPTICAL zoom.

Canon has 4x, Sony has maybe 5-6x?

Not sure if that's a big factory for you.

Also the Panasonic has a better zoom range 25-300mm

25 is pretty wide, which is great for close ups.

But that Canon looks pretty nice, I"m going to look into it more

Well all the streets in New York City are numbered, and I'm sure any of us can help you out with directions anywhere else. :)

^ Yeah, unless you're way downtown in New York, where the streets actually have real names, it's hard to get lost. If you're on 5th Ave and you need to get 8th Ave, and you notice the numbers getting smaller instead of larger, you just turn around and walk the other way. lol

And in New Jersey, you'll probably be taking NJ Transit, which is really easy.

sounds easy enough, we'll probably stay where the streets are numbered then lol

oh i see, sounds like a plan haha is the shopping good in NJ?

Yeah, I guess so. There are a few good malls in Northern New Jersey. BUT if you want to go to an awesome mall, you should take a bus from Port Authority to the Palisades Center Mall in Nyack, NY... it's apparently the 10th largest mall in the US, and it's a magical, magical place.

Haha, sounds like your friends drive like my brother then. I'll probably drive down. I could take a train, but I don't know.
