  1. well, no it isn't. im sorry but, it's nothing to do with 'the state of the industry'. it's about rises and falls in bands' popularities. Paramore are huge news in 2008, New Found Glory were huge news in 2003.
  2. well no, NFG shouldn't have been headling purely because they've been 'doing it longer' or 'have more albums' or whatever reason you're citing. Frankly, to to look at the cold facts, Paramore could, and did, sell out the apollo, NFG couldn't alone today. Paramore are simply more popular in 2008, hence why Paramore headlined. And if you're a fan of NFG then fair enough, but it is not my 'alliance' to Paramore, or me being more of a fan than Paramore than NFG that informed my review, it was simply because NFG were not very good and Paramore but on one of the best shows I have seen.
  3. black vest and red checked shirt? i was sooo ready to knock him out haha. i was gutted when he'd ran off at the end. people like that need to be taught a fucking lesson. i get a little over protective when it comes to paramore and hayley in particular haha.
  4. yeah, i had to have 'words' with a guy in front of me who thought it was a good idea to shout really awesome stuff like 'get your tits out' to hayley, when she was sat at the keyboard on her own. well, needless to say i think i got the message across. he didn't speak up again. and when the lights came up, he was nowhere to be seen bless him
  5. here is my review of last nights show in manchester for the BBC. theres some really cool pics with the review, and a gallery as well, worth checking out. the review that went up is edited down a LOT so, here's the unedited version; With almost a decade of hits to choose from, and the fact that your average Paramore fan is bound to know where to jump in most of them, all New Found Glory really had to do tonight was turn up. Alas, it seemed this was too tall a task for the 'seminal' pop punkers. The songs were all there, 'Hit or Miss', 'My Friend's Over You'; a whole retrospective. But instead of sounding like seasoned vets, the band appeared out of practice and sloppy, Jordan Pundik seeming to put more into his onstage windmiling than his vocals. Were it not for a pint sized redhead's appearance for 'It Ain't Me Babe' from Walk The Line, the first half of the set would have been, frankly, a shambles. The years on the road seemed to kick in after a while, and the last few songs were a significant improvement. Anyone thinking Paramore would be exposed as unworthy headliners over such an established band could not have had more of a rude awakening than set opener 'For A Pessimist...'. An anthemic juggernaut of power pop magic, the song seems to get huger with every performance. And as for the five scamps performing it, my how they've grown! The youthful energy and passion is all still there in spades, but it is truly remarkable just how far the band have come in terms of stage presence. Many bands of the genre enjoying a similar rise in popularity are content doing the same Dance, Dance as their club shows, but Paramore work the stage with flair and style and inject their songs with the necessary power to fill such a big venue. The songs? Sound better than ever. A practically perfect setlist, their hard work on the road evident in the bulkier, more mature sounding versions of older material such as 'Emergency' and 'Pressure' (complete with the classic Paramore over the back barrel roll from the video that was frankly more impressive than some entire sets I've seen) and a cover of Jimmy Eat World's 'The Sweetness' that sounded more marvellous than the original. Newer material truly shone tonight, 'Born For This' and 'CrushCrushCrush' showing all the signs of becoming anthems for a generation, but it was a set closing re-working of 'My Heart', which began with Hayley Williams performing solo with a keyboard, giving the song a fragile, fraught edge, and building to an outstanding crescendo with Josh Farro's backing screams adding a startling depth, creating one of the most magical performances of a song I have ever witnessed live. With encores in the form of 'Decoy' and 'Misery Business' perpetuating the euphoria, Paramore have started 2008, a year that has the band nominated for a Grammy and headlining festivals, in the most triumphant way possible.
  6. no surprise they're not doing it at Manchester again. that was embarrassing.
  7. well we thank you for that so yeah, Kiss Kiss, the band they're up against, put out a myspace bulletin and have been heavily promoting it, so Paramore are losing by about 400 votes
  8. Thanks to all of you who voted in the previous rounds, we made it to the final 8! Sooo sorry I didnt post about round 3, i was hella busy with uni work, and the poll ended a day early that it should have done, so i didnt get a chance, but we won by ONE VOTE! so it is down to 8 bands now, and Paramore is up against Kiss Kiss, and you can vote by going http://www.decoymusic.com/vb/showthread.php?t=28346 tell everyone you know, hopefully we can get them to the final and then bring home victory for the deserving champions.
  9. good god almighty that is possibly the greatest thing i have ever seen. what a line up
  10. that drum cover is pretty lame. he tries way too hard, puts way too many unnecessary fills in, and totally loses the timing a good few times. zac had it right on the original track, less is more
  11. ...I'm not gonna lie dude, that's just kinda creepy.
  12. We stormed round 2 with 66%, so well done everybody I have a bad feeling about Round 3. I think we're up against Circa Survive, and a lot of people liked that album. I'll get back when our bout goes live.
  13. oh man, ive been checking the thread every 5 minutes to see if we were still in the lead. we were getting beat at first. ive really neglected the essay i have due in tomorrow to ensure this victory haha.
  14. yes but do you not also see the sentence below that that says "moderator priviliges FTW" its one of my editors messing around because he knows how much this means to me, the bastard.
  15. Guys, our half of round 2 has gone live, RIOT! is up against Feist's The Reminder, and you can vote here. Listen up though, it's realllllllly important we get as many people as possible to vote because a) a lot of people on the site may vote against paramore just to be awkward (its a geeky site) AND more importantly, Explosions in the Sky were losing by like, 100 votes on the last day of their vote, and word got to EitS fans, and they racked up like 200+ votes in a couple hours. So anything can happen. And we need to get our guys to the final!! thankyou again, and spread the word xo
  16. we don't have the LX in the UK, but I prefer the Slide anyway, the LX seems a bit bulky for me. I wouldve liked the slide to still have the swizzly screen though (probs wouldnt be called the slide then though would it :/)
  17. this site- http://www.skslidethemes.com/index.php lets you create themes and stuff, but i'm rubbish at stuff like that ha
  18. I was wondering if anyone had made a paramore theme for their sidekick? I have a sidekick slide (best thing ive ever owned) and would love a pretty paramore theme for it, but have no idea where to start haha
  19. ok guys, we stormed round 1, in round 2 we're up against Feist, who we should be able to take pretty easily. Its voting on the first half of round 2 for the next few days, but as soon as Paramore vs Feist goes live, I'll post here and we can get voting again. tell everyone you know to vote! and thanks to everyone who voted in round one
  20. the guys are doing very well here. they're playing shows at one step down from arena size, and are on music channels quite often. not to mention the debacle that was the instore session at HMV in manchester this summer, were they had to call police at 8am because of a near, mind the pun, riot queuing for tickets.
  21. Franklin is my favourite Paramore song, i adoooore it. this seems like someone working there put the cd on over the speaker system. back in the days before we had a stallite link up thing that plays our music, at the clothing store i work at we just had a straight up cd player, so I used to sneak in my own cds, and got loads of stuff like The Starting Line and Watishi Wa played. ah those were the days
  22. nah, JEW aren't gonna make it out of round one I don't think the album they're up against, a lot of people really liked on the site. they're up against the winner of Strata vs. Feist in round 2, and as of right now, theyre pretty much level, which is good news, cos there's no strong feelings for either album on the sire, so Paramore should get to round 3 pretty easily.
