  1. ^YES, the pinch harmonics. I'm not really an EMG fan (don't like the compression, but that improves with the 18 volt mod, less compressed), but damn the EMG 85s add a nice sound to the pinches and of course the tone overall. Know if they use the 18 volt mod or not for their EMGs?
  2. ^Definitely the Vaya EP and In/Casino/Out. Their earlier stuff I like, but not to the same extent.

    Refused

^I gotta get a hold of that still, as well as the Refused is Fucking Dead DVD.
  4. ^I wasn't born as prematurely as you I don't think, probably 3-4 weeks too early. Sucks to hear about how the band not working out because of the guitarist too. Heh, also of note about me, I had braces for 3 years (and also got bullied because of that, called "train tracks" frequently at school) because I had an improperly developed jaw that could not physically fit 32 teeth like normal people can, so as a result as I grew my teeth kinda struggled to fit in my mouth and pushed against each other so when I smiled, it looked pretty screwed up.
  5. Weird, I did a search for them and nothing came up, but I found this anyway and it needs to be bumped because it's an awesome band that I'm sure some more people here can appreciate. I am a metalhead at heart and I actually don't really get into their earlier stuff so much but Relationship of Command is one of my most favorite albums ever. I first heard the album 5 years ago (2004), listened to it heaps for 2 years, didn't hear it again until last year and I was as blown away as the first time I heard it, in fact probably even more so now that I'm a musician. The song writing is just perfect, the musicianship perhaps the peak of post hardcore of the time and most importantly, it's an emotional thrill ride from beginning to end. The Vaya EP is also really awesome IMHO, especially the last track "198d", such a beautiful song and great dynamics. ATDI is pretty much the band that made me want to dig deeper and learn more about the post hardcore genre. I ended up getting into Thrice, Refused, Drive Like Jehu to name a few and love them too now.

    Johnny Cash

When I got Walk the Line on DVD, I watched it everyday for that week, awesome movie. Legendary guy that changed the face of music forever, nothing but props for the man.
  7. Stockholm Blues-5ive (not that boy band though, this is a sludge metal band)
  8. Paid for my copy of the Deluxe Edition last night, cannot wait to get it.
  9. Bumpage, because this band is amazing and more of you guys need to hear it if you like metalcore. I goddamn love Alive and Just Breathing and End of Heartache. Both were mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap and it shows, amazing sonically. Some of the coolest riffs I've heard this decade are KSE riffs, as well as having probably the best guitar tone with EMG pickups that I've ever heard.

    Refused

It's revolutionary as hell because simply, a lot of the stuff in that album just had not been done in post hardcore before. All kinds of experimental elements as well as avant garde elements that other bands never thought to incorporate into their music. I wouldn't say you can so much compare it to pure hardcore like Black Flag and bands of that ilk. Check out the post hardcore bands that formed in the 80s, like Fugazi, Embrace, Jawbox, Nation of Ulysses to name a few, and then compare The Shape of Punk To Come to that early stuff, and you'll see how much further they stretched the genre and pushed the boundaries. So yes, another bump for this thread, because it's one of the greatest bands that the punk world has ever seen.
  11. Because I can, more Kat Von D content Maybe saggy and whatever in 25-30 years, but let's face it people, she's 27 now, and in 25 years she will be 52 and in 30 years she will be 57. Can anyone honestly say anyone that look stunning in their 20s looked as good in their 50s? So heh, saggy and what not in 25-30 years, but you know what, drop dead gorgeous now!
