Sanguis Dominus
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29001524/?gt1=43001 LOS ANGELES - Stephen King’s opinion may drive a stake through the heart of “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer. In an interview with USA Weekend, the bestselling author compared Meyer with J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series. According to Stephen, “Both Rowling and Meyer, they’re speaking directly to young people… The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can’t write worth a darn. She’s not very good.” While Stephen may not be a fan of Stephenie’s writing, he understands the appeal of the series. “People are attracted by the stories, by the pace, and in the case of Stephenie Meyer, it’s very clear that she’s writing to a whole generation of girls and opening up kind of a safe joining of love and sex in those books. It’s exciting and it’s thrilling and it’s not particularly threatening because it’s not overtly sexual.” He further explains, “A lot of the physical side of it is conveyed in things like, the vampire will touch her forearm or run a hand over skin, and she just flushes all hot and cold. And for girls, that’s a shorthand for all the feelings that they’re not ready to deal with yet.” Stephen King FTW! Easily one of my favourite authors, although, I keep meaning to read IT all the way through.

Sanguis Dominus
He's primerily a horror author. He's not going to sugar-coat his books like Myers does. As for his books being shit, the American National Book Foundation would have to disagree, else they wouldn't've awarded him the Medal of Distinguished Contribution to American Letters. The Shining? Must be shit, I mean, Jack Nicholson only agrees to act in shit films. The Running Man? Again, why would Schwarzenegger star in a good film, based off of a good book? That'd just be stupid. IT? Pet Sematary? Desperation? Kujo? I could go on.
alexyo
notice everyone who has said s king is shit, are the kids who get moist over twillight, sorry but her style of writing is so bland and boring, its just designed for 13 year old ugly girls who dont feel loved. if you want to compare her to a decent author read some books by chuck palahniuk, now that fella is a fucking genius. Jorgi
just to say, i don't really like stephen king's storylines and his characters have as much charisma as ...something really uncharismatic. but he knows how to write a book. and i do love twilight i really do, but a pile of shit has more literary style than the twilight series. it really, truly is written so badly. i do love it. but seriously. get a clue. now, chuck palahnuik needs help. but he is a fucking genius.

Sanguis Dominus
Still haven't had the chance to read any of Palahnuik stuff, but I've wanted to for a while. It's going to have to wait until I've finished reading the Horus Heresy series, and then the Dark Elf Trilogy, though. I've wanted to read them for a lot longer.
