It's "different" that's why probably. But you're probably really used to it and it's a common name in Norway =)

 

Exactly, a friend of mine at school is called Volodymyr, but goes by Vova. Everyone thinks it's a really cool name but he hates it. It's Russian.

Yeah, it's definatly different for 'non-scandinavian' people. xP But it's not that common here either, it used to be though. I think it's about 3,000 that's called that here.
