Ross
The middle fraction is a difference of two squares, if it helps you get started.

captain.obvious
guro for adding and subtracting fractions you have to find the common denominator. it's really hard for me to show you without paper hahaha It's just simplification, theres no values for X to solve for. Although if you set it equal to 0 you can find X pretty easily.
Catie
okay guro. i might be so wrong but i might be right im not so sure. im actually doing that stuff in class right and actually doing pretty well with it, but with two terms instead of three so idk if it's any different. what i got was. 4x^3 + 6x^2 - 21x + 5 / (3x-3)(x^2-1)(x+1) the ^ means raised to the (so the number after would be an exponent) and the / is over like a fraction and im not sure if you can simplify the denominator or not... you might be able to but idk so i left it. if im so wrong then im sorry lmao but if youre solving for x then idk what to do lol youd prob set it equal to
UrLittleDecoy
im gunna do it gurohahaha im in a math mood math mood? damn. i wish there was a mood like that for me but it just doesn't exist lol
captain.obvious
^ I don't think thats right the original function if X=2 was (7/3), that if X=2 comes out to be (19/27) unless I'm not doing it right
Catie
hahaha well i just got home from school and my last class is precalc so ive been on math mode for a while now lmao
Catie
^ I don't think thats right the original function if X=2 was (7/3), that if X=2 comes out to be (19/27) unless I'm not doing it right that depends if she is solving so x or not and idk if she is im doing this in class right now and thats how i learned it but i didnt learn how to solve for x yet
Ross
Guro, I'll try and scan the answer for you haha.
Guro
Catie, I'll try to see what I get when I do the same as you later. And no we're not gonna find out what x is. edit: thanks Ross :] Did you get the same as the book?
Ross
Okay, scanner isn't working. Let me draw it haha.
captain.obvious
that depends if she is solving so x or not and idk if she isim doing this in class right now and thats how i learned it but i didnt learn how to solve for x yet Whether or not you're solving for X you still need to be able to otherwise when you simplified the function you modified it rather than just simplify. Solving for X is literally just putting a value in for X lol. I used X=2. So instead of like (7/3)(x-1) it would just be (7/3)(2-1), hence where I got the (7/3) from. Catie
i have no idea what youre talking about matt. like i said i've been learning this is class. and i just did it the same way ive been doing it in class.
