Scott!
I like the new stuff way more.
hubabalou
It's not overworked. I like the Hold On Tight, but I feel like the instrumentation is overworked, and quite frankly, it wasn't mixed very well. The new stuff is a lot cleaner. Scott!
In songs like How You Love Me Now, the vocals and drums mainly dominate the mix. With the newer stuff, like Wish You Were Here, there's more separation (well, as much as you get with pop mixes anyway) and the guitars sound a bit less crushed. It all comes down to preference, but I like the way the newer stuff is mixed.
Minty Mouth
When you say 'new stuff', what new stuff exactly? Is there something other than Wish You Were Here that has been released recently? Love WYWH. Don't agree with you on Hold On Tight's mixing though. Sounded fine to my, admittedly, untrained ear.
Scott!
Well, they recently released Hangover on their website. And it should sound fine to an untrained ear. Plus it's preference, so not everyone will like or dislike the mix on Hold On Tight. I do a lot of mixing in my friend's studio, so there's a sound that I base my taste off of. I like pop mixes most, I just prefer warmer sounding pop mixes. i.e Riot!. I love riot. haha
Minty Mouth
I hear you on that preference part. Going against what is practically this entire forum, I really don't like the way Versa's album has been mixed. The songs sound so watery and one dimensional . . . (Like I said, untrained ) Anyway, I digress. I'll check out their site, thanks.
Scott!
I dont know what you mean by 'watery' but the mix does sound a bit one dimensional. By that, i mean everything is more up front. This is usually common in radio ready mixes, from what Ive heard of course. Not saying radio mixes cant sound 3d, cause they can. I like in-yo-face mixes that don't make ears ring when turned up. And still sound clear. (again, RIOT!)
Catie
hangover is pretty good, not completely blown away by it tho. i like wish you were here better but i really like hangover
hubabalou
I'm a total snob when it comes to mixes, so thats probably why I prefer the newer stuff. Like Scott said, on Hold On Tight the guitars are kind of crushed together and its not particularly pleasant for me to listen to. I've had a lot of ear training this past year too, so it's only making it worse for me. haha

Scott!
It's more catchy than a Miley Cyrus song IMO. Though you gotta blast Party In The USA sometimes...it's inevitable. HAHA
XxSanctuaryxX
i think the only song i actually like by hey monday is 'candles'. i see why people like them, i just personally find the majority of their music, shallow and.. just.. yeah. Chelsea
I think the video could of used a little bit more work. :/ Wasn't that impressed. I feel their other videos are better. They all looked great though and great song, nonetheless!

Scott!
Whoa, this is a very very pop sounding mix...I like it! I still like Wish You Were Here the most out of the new stuff so far. But Hey, it's still great!
Minty Mouth
Wow, the new song is so poppy! All those synths and scrambled vocals. It's absolutely freaking awesome.
