XMusicDudetteX
This Swine Flu was a topic of discussion in my Biology class today and my teacher does not think it's going to be as much of a pandemic as everybody claims. We've got to think, the news is notorious for stretching truths to appeal to their viewers and to get their ratings. I'm not saying to not take precautions, but don't box yourself away in fear over getting this. Since it's breaking out rapidly in Mexico, they need to shut down the border and control the outbreaks over there so that nothing gets over here, leaving them with an even bigger spread to deal with. I'm not being racist. Heck, I'd say the same thing if something were to outbreak here in America. Shut down the borders and crush the outbreaks and avoid it spreading anywhere else. indabisofmisery
i am a hypochondriac. no doubt. but i still don't get what the difference is between the swine flu and regular influenza. it sounds like the symptoms are the same. so how do you know if you got it from a pig? snout? tail? what? travel_hymn
There IS no difference between regular influenza and swine flu - because you get the same exact symptoms. That is why, if you feel sick, you should not go to school/work and check with your doctor so they can give you medication.
Andrew
Basically what you have to do is be hygenic and see a doctor if you have the flu really. I love the way everyone over-reacts about this kind of thing.
kwik-silva
^Regular influenza (why have people started calling it influenza rather than... well.. the flu ) anyway, regular influenza can't kill you well.. not as easily as swine flu does... Put on your dancing shoes....... You sexy little swiiinee late...
travel_hymn
Swine flu is just more dangerous than regular flu....but if you're healthy and hygenic and keep away from sick people, you'll be okay. What'd you mean, "as easily?" The only people who have died are people from Mexico. No one in the USA or Europe has died.
watchthesky
the guy on the news last night said there probably will be deaths up here, just not as many as mexico because we have better medical care or something like that i don't remember, it was late
travel_hymn
Deaths in Canada??
watchthesky
there hasn't been yet, we've only got six cases the health minister said on the news though that a few deaths wouldn't be surprising
Andrew
The way I see it, is people have died in Mexico because their... "quality of life" isn't good as other countries. And as BBC said, the Mexicans who died were diagnosed very late on.

travel_hymn
Thats because its not in USA/Europe like it is in Mexico, and, as pointed out we have better medical care I know that I don't know why you're posting it News: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090428/ap_on_go_pr_wh/swine_flu_government
