It sets the tone perfectly for the rest of the album, whereas Pessimist was always one of those songs that were great but i sort of overlooked, and the whole of brand new eyes just seems really disjointed to me so Careful couldn't have the same effect as an effective and accurate opener to the album. ...so All we know.
