Yeah, it all depends on what features you need the software to have. For me, Reaper is a good balance between the simplicity of Audacity and the monolith that is ProTools. :)

I still use Audacity for really simple audio manipulation and recording stuff, though. Because it IS really, really simple to use.

 

Reaper is a free program. You should try it out! It might take some time to learn it, but it will all pay off in the end.
