Oops I just made a topic about it in the section "Press"!

Anyway, I'm so excited by this. They're back!!!

I like what it's said on their official website:

ALTERNATIVE PRESS' MOST ANTICIPATED OF 2009: GREEN DAY

BAND GIVES AP EXCLUSIVE FIRST LISTEN TO NEW ALBUM; FIRST MAJOR PRESS SINCE THE AMERICAN IDIOT TOUR

ALTERNATIVE PRESS, the Cleveland-based magazine dedicated to covering contemporary punk culture, is pleased to announce influential punk trio GREEN DAY as the cover stars of our MOST ANTICIPATED ALBUMS OF 2009 issue! In their first major interview since ending their tour for 2004's multi-platinum album American Idiot, the band open up about their new, Butch Vig-produced disc, the influences behind the tracks and their expectations for both themselves and for the world's response. "There's nothing to prove anymore," singer/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong tells AP. "We're just trying to show we have this spirit that rock 'n' roll can change lives, and it really is a religious experience that means something to us. It's more about faith now."AP's MOST ANTICIPATED ALBUMS OF 2009 is the ultimate source for the best music due to drop next year. The issue goes on sale everywhere Tuesday, Dec. 9. for anyone who hasn't already seen this,

posted on Green Day Authority:

AP visited Green Day in the studio and had the chance to hear some of the new tracks. They mention that there are two Act’s in this album (Act 1- “ Heroes and Cons”; Act 2 – “Charlatans and Saints”). Some of it is political, but most of it very much personal. They talk about 7 songs they heard (of 16 the band has). The song "March of the Dogs" is a "religious rant", while the song "21st Century Breakdown" is a bit more personal, but still talking about how the American dream seems to fade away. A “piano-driven love ballad” called “Last Night On Earth” where Billie talks about it being a romantic moment with more between the lines.

They mention the new album seems to be in line for a spring release.

The article clarified that the last report we heard in 2006, about Billie Joe writing 45 songs on the piano, was not true. While there is some piano on the songs, Billie Joe said that just didn’t happen.

They mention a lot of older rock music seeming to stem from the inspiration for this album. The author writes about some of the songs motivation of The Beatles, The Clash and John Lennon.

The entire article has some really great descriptions of the work the guys have been doing and their feelings about it.
