  1. Heh I actually really like Fallen and Open Door (never heard anything else from Evanescence though). I only got into the band about 2 months ago, when I was drunk at with some female friends and they had an Evanescence live DVD and put it on. Afterwards I just said "I've become a fan now" haha.
  2. And that's exactly a problem I have with much of today's generation. A lot of people don't take the time to understand why they like anything anymore. It's just a case of "Well, cause I do". I don't understand what's so hard about just taking a little time to read about something and to understand it better or to listen to something more deeply and truly get connected with it rather than just "YEAH MAN I LIKE!". It's not a case of me sitting down and dissecting songs all day, far from it. I enjoy a good song like anyone else, but I think an understanding of something on a more than a superficial and shallow level is important too.
  3. Nah, you can hear the drum samples of David Bendeth's stuff on other Bendeth produced records, so sorry to bust your balls. I don't mean to say you can hear that exact same SNARE SOUND, but the qualities of the snare samples are definitely present in other Bendeth stuff. I find the overheads in Riot! perhaps a tiny bit too bright for my tastes, but I'd rather have audible overheads rather than like in Nickelback's "Dark Horse" record where they are really hard to hear, even on studio monitors. But I do definitely totally agree on this point "but I do think the production definitely plays a role (like a catalyst?) in the music and how people listen to it. (obvious or not) " It's unfortunate a lot of the younger generation take great production for granted. Yes of course, the music is obviously the most important element, but David Bendeth, Rob Cavallo, Chris Lord-Alge and all those other guys that were behind the production of the last two Paramore records (I'd say the first one too, but the production of the first record doesn't really stand up to Riot! and BNE for sheer size and depth) are JUST as important to the sound of the record as the musicians are. It probably doesn't interest most people, which is a huge shame IMO, but whenever I buy a well produced CD, I love to look in the credits to find out who did the engineering, the mixing and the mastering and production, because those processes are such an integral part of how a record sounds.
  4. You pointing it out just then made me actually realize that link existed. Been at this forum nearly a year, and I seriously had no idea there was a link to the homepage lol
  5. I can't say I can go back in my mind to "all those years ago when I first heard the album", cos well, I wasn't even aware of who Paramore were until last year. I first heard Decode in May last year, but then the month after I started to regularly hang out with this girl who was kinda into the band. She had lent me this burnt CD which had various Paramore songs which had Decoy on it and then just various songs from AWKIF and Riot!. At this stage, I was still kinda embarrassed for liking and listening to Paramore. I don't come from a pop punk/pop rock listening background at all to be honest. I was pretty much a metalhead through my entire teen years (but about halfway through, I had branched out a little to post hardcore stuff like At the Drive, Refused, and some other punk stuff like The Living End) and at heart, I still am a metalhead really. As you can imagine, I had (still have) many metalhead friends, so I just made it in my best efforts to not let them find out I was listening to Paramore........every single day. I then learnt how to play Fences and then CrushCrushCrush (both rhythm and lead parts haha) on guitar towards the end of June last year and since then I've played those song WAYYYYY too many times on guitar lol. Probably about 3 months later, I then learnt Let the Flames Begin on guitar (the lead and rhythm parts because I had too much time on my hands). Eventually, I did end up hearing the whole album. I still think the overall song consistency doesn't quite make for a 10/10 album for me. I'd say 8.5/10 is what I'd give Riot! I'm still always a tad unsure about Hallelujah, When It Rains, We are Broken and Miracle, but every other song I really love. If I had to pick one favorite song off the album, it's Let The Flames Begin. It has this cool aggressive quality about it and it's strangely somehow kinda metal in a way, which I think is really awesome (it's probably the double kick drums towards the end haha). And from watching the Final Riot! DVD and seeing the song live, I have no doubt it's the band's best and most intense live song. I'll probably get ragged on for saying this, but I literally cried when I saw Let the Flames Begin live when Paramore toured Australia. It was just fucking intense and almost surreal. Another aspect of the album that really captured my attention was the production, which I constantly use as a reference guide for when I'm mixing my own stuff. Vocal production is just gorgeous. The places where the harmonies were put are just so well chosen and Hayley's voice is extremely clear and present without ever being harsh. The guitar sounds, particularly on the songs where it sounds like they used Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifiers, is just immense and the way it blends with the bass guitar, yet has amazing separation is just amazing. The drums too, are just intense. They make you just sit up and take notice of them. Sampled to shit and back, I don't care, because David Bendeth really raised the bar for drum sounds in rock music with Riot! to a new level. I'm still on the fence as to whether the drums on Brand New Eyes are better or not, maybe about equal. The snare and kick drums in Riot! are still some of the most massive sounding ones I've heard in rock music in general, which is no easy feat.
  6. Think I'd just rather wait for the CD than have to stomach Myspace 96kbps MP3 quality
  7. Honestly I was never aware there was a site homepage for like, the first 4 months I was a member of this forum lol. I just googled "Paramore forum" and this came up, and I registered haha. And even then, I barely ever looked at it. And yeah, I don't think I've checked the homepage for several months now. Pretty sure the last time I did was in February around the time Paramore was touring Australia. I like Paramore, but I'm not really one of those super obsessed fans either who needs/wants to know all the news about them all the time, so it just doesn't really interest me to check it really.
  8. WTF is Melodramatic Popular Song? Every night I go to sleep and wake up, there is a new genre invented
  9. ^You'll be holding your breath a rather long time, haha
  10. The logistics and various shit that goes into making a live DVD is perhaps just a touch, you know, just a touch too expensive for that to be possible every album a band releases. Gotta think a bit more realistically than "I think" I'm afraid:wink:
  11. My condolences to you and all those affected:hug:
  12. ^Yeah, the quality is pretty terrible, you weren't kidding Bad enough in fact I can't even make a judgment on whether I like your vocal abilities or not

Heroin right at the top? Interesting. I would have put alcohol there, personally

For fuck sake, give it a rest mate, seriously. Like every instance where you try to pull this type of "joke" it was not funny the first time, and the second time around it's even more annoying and obnoxious. Is it really that hard to just not be a complete cunt?
  15. I play pretty much any style of rock dude. I come from a blues rock playing background, then onto metal, and in fact since I've been playing 7 strings I actually spend less time playing metal than I used too. Don't understand the whole "You play 7 strings so you must play metal!" thing at all. The first mass produced 7 string guitar was a signature guitar made for Steve Vai back in 1990, who went on to use it on his debut album which isn't metal at all.
  16. Have a bitter experience for your birthday:mrgreen: Nah, happy birthday man, enjoy it.
  17. I just feel embarrassed looking at those last 3 photos, let alone if it were actually me in it like you are, Kailey:p
  18. Meh. As someone said on another forum I go on "They're tits, get over it". I've seen them in real life with girls I've been in relationships with. They're exactly that, tits. They are not spaceships from outerspace, not some amazing wonder of the fucking world, just something attached to a damn female body that's quite normal. The matter of fact is, SHE IS that kind of girl to take photos of herself like that, because obviously she did. They didn't happen while she tripped over getting dressed. The fact they got leaked onto the internet is rather unfortunate. The ultimate fact is, as was said above "They're tits, get over it". That is to say, in a week's time, no one is going to give a shit about this anymore and most likely in a week's time, no one is going to give a shit about the "I support Hayley" campaign and it will be forgotten about. It's just the current flavor of the week, like anything else. Once it ends, people will move onto the next celebrity having their pics leaked on the internet or whatever else bullshit happens that frankly I couldn't give two shits about. If anything, this campaign might prove to just keep this shit going longer than necessary, so no, I'm not joining this campaign. So wanna do anything about it like any intelligent person would? Just don't give a shit.
  19. Why the fuck would you want to rip the horrendously bad quality stuff off myspace anyway? 96kbps mp3 is like listening to someone vomiting and having diarrhea simultaneously.
  20. Ashamed of this forum for not making a thread about Dio:( Rust In Peace, Paul:(
  21. As an owner of the 3 albums myself, I don't recall seeing "Stop this song" as being a track on any of them. I guess it's hard to just take that extra 0.5 of a second to read a post correctly:roll:
  22. Kayla posting a pic? Not gonna happen
