Here is the interview ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Rhiannon: Hey guys welcome to Glasgow! James: How you finding it? Josh: Yeah man, things are awesome. Hayley: Yeah I love Scotland the people are great here! Zac walks into the room. Rhia: (In a geeky joke voice) Hiiii! Zac: Hey! Rhia: I’m Rhiannon. This is James Zac: I’m Zac James: Hey Zac: I’m Zac All: Laughs Zac: I’m Zac. People call me Zac and stuff All: Laughs James: Right basically we’ve taken 50 questions that you’re fans sent in. Hayley: Wow! James: Well 50 of some of them, we took out most of the weird stuff. But kept 10 weird ones at the end. Hayley: Cool ok! James: So how’s the UK for you? How’s the tour going? Josh: It’s amazing! We love the UK. It’s like our second home we love it. The kids have been amazing! James: Have you come across here by yourselves? Not as part of the band? Josh: No. No we’ve not come here before. Hayley: But it’s the second time we’ve been here as a band. James: D’you reckon you’ll travel otherwise outside of the band? Josh: Yeah I wanna explore more of Scotland. Zac: I wanna go to Loch Ness! Have you been there? James: Yeah, I fell in. Josh: Ohhh gosh! Hayley: You fell in!!??! James: Yeah. Hayley: Did you sink to the bottom?! All: Laughter James: So was it Newcastle you were playing last night? Good fun? Josh: It was great, it was great. Hayley: Yeah that was awesome Josh: It was a good crowd James: You’re not getting across to Ireland this time are you? Hayley: No I wish! James: The Irish crowds are the craziest! There was a piece in Kerrang about the riots at the Aiden gig in Ireland? Hayley: I wanna go so bad! James: So what’s the weirdest touring experience you’ve had? Josh: Oh Gosh Hayley: We have a lot of crazy parents that come. They’re really bossy like (joke voice) “Gimme a picture for my Daughter”. They’ll like cut in front of any of the kids outside. Remember we were talking about that in Boston? Kids will be stood there and parents will cut in front and be like “sign this!!” and I’m like “aarrh!”. All: Laugh James: So you don’t have any weird stalkers yet? Hayley: Err Josh: Erm no James: Give it time Rhia: No seriously All: Laugh Zac: Actually, yesterday we woke up at ten, and there were these kids out there. Hayley: And when the bus started moving they were like moving with the bus. Josh: Yeah they try to look in the tinted windows and stuff. James: Oh my god! That’s a bit weird huh! Josh: The kids over here are a lot more enthusiastic, like in America I guess if you’re a really really big band they’ll follow you about and scream. Where as we’re not that big over here, but they still follow you and stuff James: So for people, who don’t know, talk us through how the band formed. Hayley: Well when I was 13 I moved to Franklin, Tennessee and I started going to this home school tutorial thing once a week. I met Zac and Zac was really into Indie music like Death Cab For Cutie and another band called Failure… Josh is trying to find something to draw on. There’s nothing about so he uses Rhia’s arm. Then writes his name on a banana. Hayley:…… who we credit for a lot of what we do as a band. And he was like “I’m in this band, you gotta come hang out with us, and my brother plays guitar.” Then he introduced me to Josh and I started hanging out with them at band rehearsals, and started writing with them. I was also doing like a cover band with Jeremy. We did like funk, soul and party music it was really fun! James: So would you like to try other genres of music like funk? Hayley: Errmm… (thinks) Josh: (laughs) hmmm Hayley: We’ll see I mean we’re all into really different and various types of music. And as far as what we write, I don’t think there’s a limit to what we write and what we do as a band. We don’t wanna set any limitations. James: So have you got material for a new album? Hayley/Josh: A little bit, yeah. James: Are you still writing just now? Or are you too busy? Josh: Yeah we’re too busy, we’ll start when we get back, once we’ve had a chance to take a breath and relax. See what comes out of us, so we’ll see. Hayley: Yeah James: How long have you got off? Josh: Like a month and a half Rhia: That’s cool. Do you pick up where you left off basically? Josh: Just gonna hang out and relax Zac: (To Mark M) It’s been so long I don’t remember where we left off! Josh: Yeah we’re gonna get a sonic!! Have you ever heard of sonic? Rhia: The Hedgehog? All: Laugh Josh: No no! Its like a drive in restaurant. People like skate out to you…. Hunter: (To Zac) Dude did you hear what she said? Zac/Hunter: Yeah dude!! Sonic the Hedgehog!! (laugh) Rhia: Oh I watch ‘The Simple Life’ too much! Hayley: ha!! Yeah! Josh: It’s amazing! They have really good drinks! Not like alcoholic or anything. But yeah. Jeremy: Its crazy! They have a bunch of different flavours. They have a whole list of stuff. Like you can have any drink you want and add loadsa different fruit! Its awesome! James: Yeah you don’t get anything like that over here! That’s what’s cool about the US everything is so much bigger! Josh: Have you ever been there? James: Yeah twice, out to Orlando. Hayley: Come to Nashville! Josh: Yeah come hang out with us!!! James: So do you get to go out tonight after the show? Or will you just get mobbed? Josh: Last night we almost did! Jeremy: Yeah, usually not afterwards. You find your time in between; you get sorta random times at least a couple of hours. After shows is usually the time we hangout cos you can’t really go anywhere! Josh: In America we go out. We go out to eat after we play. But over here everything is closed. It closes so early! James: Yeah I found this awesome 80’s bar up town. Gonna go and check that out later. Hayley: Oh wow! That sounds fun! An 80’s bar! James: Yeah it looks pretty awesome. Hayley: Actually yeah that sounds really fun! James: So we’ve got some weird questions now, got rid of the really weird ones. There are ten, so you’ve got two each. Pick a number between 1 and 10. Rhia: Zac first Zac: Err 7 James: Would you ever consider dating a fan? Zac: (Looks to Hunter for help) Errrr. I would only date someone from Tennessee and we don’t have many Tennessee fans. Hayley: We do but its like… Zac: We do but I’d probably only date someone at home! James: Anyone else want a number? Don’t worry they’re not that bad! Josh: 3 Hayley: Oh what! I was gonna say three! Ohh man! James: What’s your favourite cheese? Josh: What’s my favourite cheese? James: Yep Josh: Mozzarella Hayley: Mmmmmm Rhia: These aren’t ours!! James: Yeah apart from number six! That’s mine, who wants that? Josh: I was actually gonna say six! You’re my favourite journalist because yyou’reot cool hair, a cool jacket and your from England, so its awesome! James: Nice one! Does anyone want a gross one? Hayley hides Hayley: I don’t want a gross one!! Hunter: Zac or Jeremy do! Give it to them! Josh: Give Jeremy the gross one! Zac tries to look at the computer screen; Rhiannon pulls it back and tells him off! Rhia: Don’t look! Don’t look! James: Can you put cooked spaghetti up your nose and pull it out your mouth? Jeremy: Oh? Can I? No! All: General discussion about it Jeremy: I bet I could if I tried! James: It’s easy! Jeremy: Oh is it? Hayley: You reckon it’d clear your sinuses? All: Laugh Jeremy: So you like sniff it up, and then when you feel it up here (throat) you like (snorts). James: Yeah you have to like hock it up. Jeremy: That’s awesome!!!!! Hayley: Is that what you do before you snort lines of coke? Jeremy: Right I’m gonna try that later!! James: (Talking to Rhia) Right what do you think? That one for Zac? (Points at question) Zac: Oh no dude!! Rhia: I would have said Jeremy Josh: I’ll take it James: Ok cool. Would you ever consider a full body wax? Josh: A full body wax!!?? Hayley: A full bo… I’m so glad I didn’t get that! Josh: No I haven’t considered it but now that you ask.. All: Laugh Josh: I think guys should have hair and girls shouldn’t. Well it depends. Hayley: (Looks like she wishes he hadn’t just said that) Oh my god… Zac: (Laughs a lot) where are you talking about the hair growing? Silence Josh: Guys should have hair on their legs; sorry that’s what I really meant. When dudes shave their legs… Zac interrupts Josh: Shut up!! All: Laugh Josh: When dudes shave their legs I think that’s weird!! James: Has anyone got any tattoos? Hayley: Jeremy has a tattoo Jeremy: Want me to show you? Stands up and take T-shirt off to show tattoo. James: That’s awesome! Mine’s still scabby! Hayley: Can I see it? James: Sure it’s on my wrist. Hayley: Wow that’s awesome! Jeremy: You just get it done? James: Yeah last week Jeremy: You been putting lotion on it? James: Yeah a fair bit Jeremy: Cool keep doing that for a while. Rhia: So Hunter if you could have anyone’s face tattooed, on you bum preferably, who would it be? Jeremy: Me!!! All: Laugh Josh: I was gonna say that! James: Its quite sad that I can imagine that! All: Laugh James: Like steve-o’s tattoo Jeremy: Yeah steve-o’s tattoo but my face! Zac: That’s awesome!! Hunter: Err Clint Eastwood James: You like his films? Hunter: Yeah. Sure All: Laugh James: I think the rest are a bit too weird! Jeremy/ Zac: No just go for it! Hayley: Bill Cosby! All: Laugh Zac: I think I’d get Osama Bin Laden so that every time freakin’ I (makes noise and imitates he’s on the toilet) …… All: Laugh Hayley: Ok! Oh my god! Rhia: (Laughs) Nice and tasteful Hunter: (mocks Zac by making the same face and noise) Zac: What! I was just saying if you don’t like someone, you put them on you bum! James: If I had spinach in my teeth would you tell me? Hunter: is that for me? James: Sure, if you want. Hunter: Of course………I wouldn’t! Zac: What was that? Rhia: If you had spinach in his teeth would you tell him? Zac: No! That’d be hilarious!! I’d be like “No of course you don’t”! No I probably would. James: Ok nice, thanks. Are you still getting hassle of male fans in the crowd? Hayley: Every once in a while, but over here its a lot of girls actually! Josh: (In a mocking voice) “ Hayley’s hot!!” All: Laugh Josh: (Still mocking voice) “Take off you’re dress!” All: Laugh Josh: it’s not like she’s gonna be like “Oh! Ok then!” All: Laugh Rhia: “ Oh if you insist” All: Laugh Josh: But with my new body wax… All: Laugh Rhia: So have you had any underwear thrown at you on stage? Hayley: Didn’t you guys have something? James: There’s a guy we interviewed earlier who bought a red shiny thong to throw tonight! Hayley: Wait wait! A male thong? Hunter: Oh I’m keeping it! Hayley: Duuuuude! James: I was reading about one of the guys in the band spinning on stage and ripping your hair out or something? Jeremy: Yeah her hair got caught in my guitar and I went to get it and she sorta went (throws his head down). I was like “oooh”! Hayley: It was like floating in the air or something and I grabbed it and threw it… Josh: Yeah we were like blowing it; kids were like “aarrrgghh”. Hayley: Yeah kids were like “eewww”. James: Now-a days that would be sold on Ebay in like half an hour. Hayley: Ha! Yeah maybe! James: So what’s the story behind the band name? Hayley: The name came from a friend’s mum who’s maiden name was Paramour. We loved the way it sounded and we actually thought about it for a really long time. So we thought it sounded really great. When we looked it up it meant secret love and four loves. There was a bunch of great meanings, which we could relate with and I dunno we just liked how it sounded Rhia: Right guys, we bought you a present! James: (looking for bag. Picks up someone else’s) Ok that’s not mine! Josh: I stole your bag James: That’s great! Thanks for that Josh: Its cool. (Looking at Rhia’s bag) who’s that? Rhia: Brodie Dahl from the distillers Hayley: Oh yeah she’s awesome! Rhia: Have you met her? Hayley: No I haven’t. Rhia: Who’s the most famous person you’ve met? Hayley: Joan Jet Rhia: Who? Hayley: She sings… Jeremy: (Singing) I Love Rock and Roll Hayley: Josh and me had dinner with Gerard and Ray from My Chem. Rhia: No way!! James: Have you seen their new video? ‘Welcome to the Black Parade’? Hayley: No, but Jeremy has! James: Its just like wow!! Its awesome, just pure symbology! Jeremy: Oh ‘The Black Parade’. Yeah it’s awesome! Rhia: James got really excited when it came out and just sat in front of the TV for ages. James: So a band of your size, you’ve got a lot of stuff that you’ve wanted. So there’s only one thing you could possibly want as a present right? Rhia: But you obviously can’t catch up with new music on the scene all the time. So we thought we’d go out and get you a CD today. Hayley: Aaawwwww Rhia: David Hasslehoff, for you guys. All: Loud laughter Hayley: David Ha-ha-hasslehoff (Laughing) Rhia: You wanna hear it? It’s the best thing ever!! Hayley: This is amaaaazing!! Josh reads the back of the CD Rhia: Oh ‘Hoffs Housed Up Version’ is really bad!! James plays the CD James: You gotta check out the video! Hayley: There’s a Video!!!?? James: Yeah its so bad it’s good! Hayley: Oh you guys are amazing! Rhia: It’s awful; he pretends to do a little guitar solo Hayley: So he’s like huge in Europe? James/Rhia: No! All: Laugh James: Just in Germany Hayley: Oh in Germany! James: He’s like a saint out there. Its bound to be huge over here, we have really bad music charts! Hayley: Dude I was listening to you guys pop music. It was like (sings some pop song). Its like weird poppy dance stuff. Josh: So what’s better Ireland or Scotland? Rhia: I’ve never been to Ireland so I’m gonna have to say Scotland. James: My family are from Ireland So I’ll say Ireland Hayley: Oh I can’t wait!!! I love Scotland! Zac: I love Scotland. Hayley: Dude we’re gonna use Hasslehoff’s track for our UK Video! James: That’ll be awesome! You’ll have to email it to us! Hayley: Yeah we will, it’ll go up on the website too. Anne Marie asked us to wrap it up around here so we just chatted for a while and left. Great band too chat to.
