An Important Message from Fall Out Boy

Being from Chicago, we know "next years our year" all too well.

6 months ago we thought it would be a fun idea to release our album on election day but this is not the election to be cute. This is the most important election of our time and, as much as the record is a social commentary and the term "folie a deux" is relevant to the candidates, we felt as though rather than making a commentary we were only riding the wave of the election. This seemed less and less like what we intended to do and more of a gimmick.

While we have all individually expressed our positions on the candidates that we support we feel that many of the interviews and press for the record have skewed us into a partisan band. While it may be obvious where we stand. We never intended to be the band that shoved our ideas down peoples throats. We only hope people look at the bigger picture and investigate the issues further on their own.

We're sure many people will be left wondering what's going on, it is our intent to get our record out this year and as soon as possible- as we made sure to have it done in time for its original release. It is now in the hands of our label to give us a new release date.

With this extra time we hope to add a suprise or two to the record and the campaign for you to vote on a series of "golden tickets" that we promise will be unlilke anything you have ever seen. We will also have an extensive preorder campaign that will take into account the current state of our economy. We still plan to release a series of new songs on itunes and in addition will be adding a series of a few additional podcasts as they received such a good reaction. We are extremely sorry but we feel that we are doing this for reasons that suit our ideals and are unselfish.

As terrible as we feel for those who have been waiting for this record we will be not only honoring all pre-orders but we are now playing a select series of extremely small club shows in the states in november. This will not be a tour and will for the most part not be in areas we have played in a while. These shows will take place in extremely small clubs that we played in prior to take this to your grave. Tickets will be very affordable and only available on day of.

When is the record coming out? Currently were not sure. We will be working hard to put pressure on our label to get it out before the end of the year but it is now in other people's hands.

And as previously stated, the album is set for release on December 16th.

Got back from Glasgow at something like 3 in the morning, I really can't remember, I was so damn tired!

To be honest, I was pretty impressed with FOB, I'd definitely go to see them live again. They know how to put on a decent show.

Although I still don't like them that much...:P

i dont like the term 'sell-out', but admit i liked them heaps more when not so many other people did, aye.

I also hate the term "selling out". Isn't the main objective of a band to be successful!? :???:

But aye, the friend who dragged me along to the gig was very impressed. I need to get down to Glasgow to see more shows, it's just the 4 hour trip that puts me off! :crybad:

It should be to play the music that you, as a person, want to play. Not what you think other people want to hear. Fall Out Boy grew up more than sold out.

Unless, you wanted to set up a band with the sole aim of making money. Which is the most stupid way of making money in existence as most artists spend their entire careers trying to pay off their advances!

As time passed, their music became much more appealing to a wider cross-section of the population. Either they changed their sound; or peoples tastes had changed. It's somewhere in between I'd think. After TTTYG the songs just seemed like a thousand one-liners joined together to make one song. TTTYG was a lot more hate-filled and angst-filled than their more recent offerings as well.
