im a democrat and ive always been one

and i didnt support barack obama because hes black.

tbqh i dont exactly think many people voted for obama because hes black.

there might have been some but i think people voted for him because they believed in him and that he will give us the change we need.

and hes an inpiration to all african americans.

to see how far theyve come from slavery, to them not having the same rights as white people, to this, an african american president.

i could only wish that obama's grandma could witness his grandson win this election.

i believe that obama has the potential to bring america back together.i also think that if you dont try to band america together and mourn over how mccain didnt win, how are we going to make america great again?

accept that hes won because if someone who lost the campain can accept it, why cant you?

america needs to band together more then ever now and if you arent willing to do that you arent proud to be an american.

Obama recieved 97% of the African American vote, more than half of whom had never voted before. These figures present the rather awkward problem of racially biased voting, which has apparently just swapped one skin colour for another. Oops.

 

Voting will always be in some way biased; if Hillary Clinton has been selected as the Blue (i love primary colours) candiate, then there'd be a ton of people going on about how women voted for her purely because she has a vagina and other such feminine attributes; "I VOTED FOR CLINTON 'CAUSE SHE'S GOT REALLY NICE HAIR AND THE SAME BRA SIZE AS ME".

 

No way to avoid it though, really. Voting will always be biased in some way, shape or form, so it's best that we make the most of it. It's likely that somewhere along the line us British folk will have the same dilemma: a black man, or woman, running as the leader of a political party. Probably not the BNP.

 

But, at least now we have the option to do so. America has set an example that should be followed, and in all honesty I look forward to seeing if, and hope that, the many that voted made the right decision. Luckily, Obama's policies, whilst having some rather fucking massive flaws, seem to generally be what Americans want (well, majority, can't say the same for this forum !)

I couldn't believe people were that ignorant and stupid enough to be calling Obama a terrorist and a Muslim, those people should not even be allowed to vote. McCain started a lot of these rumors and brainwashed many of his supporters into thinking Obama was this terrible anti American, then he later had to explain that all these accusations about Obama are not true. McCain kept bringing up Obamas connection with Acorn when there is a video floating around on the internet of McCain attending and speaking at an Acorn rally himself. Lilley you may need to do some research on what socialism is exactly. I watched an interview with the actual Socialist party candidate for America and he said Obamas positions is no where near what the Socialist party stands for, so you might want to take that out of your sig so you don't look like a fool.

As for McCain being in the senate for 20 years and not accomplishing much doesn't really add up to experience for me. He could be in the senate for 50 years but that doesn't make him anymore qualified if he is making bad decisions. As for Palin she was the biggest mistake to the Republican campaign. She didn't know that Africa was a continent and could not even explain what it is that the vice president does. She is not even qualified to work at McDonalds let alone run a nation if something happened to McCain.
